Get the 2023 or 2024?

New to the group, looked but didn't find an existing I could latch on to.

I'm ready to pull the trigger on a 3500 AT4 or Denali. Local dealer has $7k off in stock 2023s. I'll only drive it 5k/year and plan on it being my last truck (I'm 50). We will be doing some light rv towing but I want to have a lot in reserve and not stress the truck going up hills and want room to grow in the future.

Is the 2023 pretty solid or should I get a 24 and hope they knew what they were doing? Thought about leasing a 24 while they work out the bugs, but I'm worried the current crazy in DC will make these almost impossible to get in 3-5 years.

Thoughts?

Personally I never liked being the new kid on the block, there are a few changes made to the engine to produce more torque and HP and better Low end torque. Anything can be a lemon if you get that unlucky truck. I think they have the kinks worked out pretty good not the 2022 and 2023 models. I haven't ready anywhere about any updates to the 10speed trans in relation to getting a bit more HP and torque, knowing the 2020-2023 10spds didn't like increases in power (programmers) has be a little concerned, but that probably isn't a valid concern. I'd save the 7k and go with a 2023 but that's me.

I assume they have a 2023 optioned exactly as you want or are you settling?

If it were me I’d want the 2024 with the new interior. I like the layout much better than the 2023 and earlier trucks…. I wouldn’t think twice about mechanical updates causing issues. It’s not a complete redesign…

Either way congrats on getting a new truck in the near future…

I could have waiting but I got a pretty good deal on my 23, I'm not towing heavy anyway now I have a motorhome that my wife and I go camping so I'm glad that I got the 23, I'm a little older than you so I really don't care for the more hp and torque and the inside, although it would have been nice, it's all of what do you prefer, the 24,s are coming out now so you might can find the one you like and buy it since you are going to do some little towing, which can led into medium towing, which can led into heavy towing, lol.

You have a tech point. Supposedly the 24 models will have transparent view capability with the added rear camera that only worked with bumper tow trailers prior to the 24 model year. the other big tech difference if it came to fruition is the mapping system is supposed to trailer ready, think rv gps. That would be nice since I have to mount my rv gps on the dash of my 80k 2022 truck since it is designed to tow 21k+ but has the same mapping system as a geo.
