It's possible but you would think the YouTube guy "Car Care Guy" would have a video about this by now. The article says the news was released on August 6th. I'm baffled by the lack of further information.

 

Curious as to cost. One could install one of those and still have powertrain warranty .

 

If the information on Google is correct, I'm assuming this is covered by warranty. However it doesn't mention model years 2023 and 2024.

Yes, same article i read. However it leaves more questions than answers. Will they replace all valve bodies for years 2021-2022? Or only on vehicles when/if they fail? Assuming the news is true, GM has been tight liped about it.

 

I wonder if there will be another recall and everyone will get this for free? Or a paid dealer upgrade

 

I'm wondering the same thing. At the very least, you would think the same people who received recall letters would have follow up letters to schedule replacement service. But what about the rest, 2023 and 2024? I'm hoping this news isn't fake.

It’s a step in the right direction. My ‘24 never gave me issues, but now who knows with the ‘25 I just picked up. Built in May, so I’m sure it’s got the Gen 2 valve body.

it would at least be good to think that if one does fail you won’t need two months for another identical failure prone VB. That alone would be nice.

 

From what i can see that part looks to be for the 10l90 anyway. There is no fitment data shows for the new part number anywhere but if you look at the the part number the article lists above that is being replaced, that old part is for the 10L90 not the HD transmission. One would assume the 10L1000 is going to have a different part number and who knows if its out or still in the works or never coming.

 

Good to see they are working on a fix, only took them 5 model years if this one actually fixes it. There have been a few part #'s for valve bodies up to this point so hopefully this one is sorted out and gives owners of these trucks good service.

 

Hopefully yes. However I don't want to risk the possibility of a lockup before getting this new valve body. I'm hoping they offer to replace all of them. But I'd be surprised if they agree to do that.

I'm afraid you're right.

 

The drive-line strain when it fails is the question. What long lasting trans and/or rear diff effects will it have is the question.

 

Buddy with 3.0L got a supposed updated valve body with his new transmission from GM. He got it back at sometime in July. 2023 truck

 

 

Nate doesn't have to buy a new truck to tear open this so called Gen 3 valve body. They are available at dealerships and people are actually selling them on EBay. Just Google the part number and it takes to to EBay. I hope Nate gets his hands on one and does a full review.

 

I've been waiting to see if the Car Care Guy was going to invite Nate to respond to this BS news release. It took a week but I'm so glad it's been debunked.

 

It seems that #24071206 is for 10L60, 10L80, 10L90 (

) and I thought our 2500/3500HDs had 10L1000's? Just wonderin'....
