ok first of all, this isnt a "bs ticket". I freakin hate it when people bitch about getting a ticket. 9 times out of 10 if you get a ticket its because YOU WERE DOING SOMETHING WRONG. Its not the cop "being a dick", you broke a law that you knew in advance and he called you out on it. Now some cops are more leinient as to what they will let slide, but the ones that arent "cool" and pull you over for little stuff are still justified because...well...you did break some rule. The "I got ticketed for tint, dont the cops have anything better to do like catch criminals" line is another one of my favorites. Nobody in the world can ever take responsibility for their actions and god forbid any of us guys admit that we did wrong.

He could have so easily given you 'wreckless driving', careless driving, stunting, etc but he DIDNT. He did you a huge ass favor whether you realize it or not. As for the smoke ticket, he probably thought that just giving you "excessive acelleration" wasnt enough punishment (because he didnt give you wreckless driving) so he just wrote you up for whatever else he could....excessive smoke.

The smoke thing isnt smart either. All it does is promote a bad image for us diesel guys and give the hippy tree huggers/EPA one more leg to stand on in their argument/fight to shut us down. You will never see me blowing smoke everywhere with my truck..

BTW the cop is right, diesel exhaust is loaded with NOx. Thats why the 2011 trucks run SCR.

flame me all you want....

ben

I didn't even know you could get either excessive acceleration or excessive smoke but x2 on taking responsibility for your actions!

If you want to blow smoke all over the place, have fun, but don't whine when you get tickets. If it's the law, police enforce it. That's their job. They do not care about hippies wants, needs and beliefs. They care about the public's perception and safety. If you don't like it, too bad. Write your member of government and complain.

Luckily, we all have the right to go to court and argue. Innocent until guilty.
Exactly. If you want to blow smoke, go for it, just don't get pissed cause you got in trouble for breaking a law. Now of course if it was the dodge blowing smoke then you shouldn't have got in trouble, but then you still got the excessive acceleration. You're lucky to have just gotten that and not a careless/reckless driving and you're also lucky to have gotten pulled over then and not after you caught the dodge and possibly raced him. Face that punishment and move on, as for the smoke, if you truly didn't do it, take it to court.
