ok first of all, this isnt a "bs ticket". I freakin hate it when people bitch about getting a ticket. 9 times out of 10 if you get a ticket its because YOU WERE DOING SOMETHING WRONG. Its not the cop "being a dick", you broke a law that you knew in advance and he called you out on it. Now some cops are more leinient as to what they will let slide, but the ones that arent "cool" and pull you over for little stuff are still justified because...well...you did break some rule. The "I got ticketed for tint, dont the cops have anything better to do like catch criminals" line is another one of my favorites. Nobody in the world can ever take responsibility for their actions and god forbid any of us guys admit that we did wrong.

He could have so easily given you 'wreckless driving', careless driving, stunting, etc but he DIDNT. He did you a huge ass favor whether you realize it or not. As for the smoke ticket, he probably thought that just giving you "excessive acelleration" wasnt enough punishment (because he didnt give you wreckless driving) so he just wrote you up for whatever else he could....excessive smoke.

The smoke thing isnt smart either. All it does is promote a bad image for us diesel guys and give the hippy tree huggers/EPA one more leg to stand on in their argument/fight to shut us down. You will never see me blowing smoke everywhere with my truck..

BTW the cop is right, diesel exhaust is loaded with NOx. Thats why the 2011 trucks run SCR.

flame me all you want....

you guys are all sounding like a bunch of stupid ignorant hillbilly's.

I dont have time to go through each of the posts so Ill just quote probably the dumbest quote "whats the point of owning a diesel if you dont use it!!". WTF? Use it for what? Towing/working/going to job sites, cause thats what I use mine for. I guess you just use yours as a smoke machine???

"if i feel like rolling some coal, I'm going to damn well do it and i don't care who it pisses off!"

Yeah! Rock on dude!!! Fk everyone else, im always right and theyre always wrong!! What a big badass you are. How cool and tall are you going to feel when some stupid tree-hugger in a prius writes down your license plate and calls you in?

I think its funny how the guys with the trucks that are really fast and know real diesel performance are the ones that agree with me about the smoke thing and try not to do it unless at the track. Its only the idiots who just bought a edge/banks or throw a PPE on their truck and think its the hottest shit around that are all about blowing smoke at every opportunity they get.

I love all of the armchair scientists in this thread who really have no idea what they are talking about as far as combustion physics, exhaust gasses, and chemicals.

particulate filters are bullchit and everyone from GM to Gale Banks to you and I know it. you can eliminate almost all smoke on a stock/street truck with better built engines/tuning. race trucks aside because of the fuel needed to light a large turbo but still there are trucks that run fairly clean and run damn fast and its not cuz they have a GOOD dpf
oh how little you know about tuning for emissions....

just because you cant see the smoke doesnt mean its clean in the EPA's eyes. Stock LB7's dont smoke, so by your theory they are "clean enough" in the emissions department. But they wouldnt have a chance in hell passing the current 2010 regs.

smoke/particulate is only a small part of the diesel emissions hurdle. The main thing is NOx. Diesels by nature produce HUGE amounts more NOx than gas engines.

so what you are saying is the millions of dollars of R&D and hundreds of engineers/programmers at GM Powertrain/electronics/driveability are morons and dont know what they are doing......

theyre told to make the vehicle cost effective first
ok you totally lost me. SO you are saying that GM puts shitty tunes in these trucks because its CHEAPER than putting a good tune in it? WTF. That is a completely ridiculous statement IMO. I bet KILLERBEE told you that stuff when he sold you your tuning right?

The mfg with the most stock hp gets bragging rights etc... but they are also constrained with X emissions regulations. SO dont you think its in the MFG's best interest to put a lot of money into their tuning so they can eek out the most HP while still staying within the constraints of the emissions regs.

Unbelievable.
