If you want to blow smoke all over the place, have fun, but don't whine when you get tickets. If it's the law, police enforce it. That's their job. They do not care about hippies wants, needs and beliefs. They care about the public's perception and safety. If you don't like it, too bad. Write your member of government and complain.

Luckily, we all have the right to go to court and argue. Innocent until guilty.

I would like to see this proof that the soot falls to the ground and doesn't effect the ozone, I'm no hippie but I want my kids and grandkids to breathe clean air long after I'm gone, everyone needs to do their part and not be selfish

Why Are The Himalayas Melting? Blame Soot. | The New Republic

I know this isn't the most reputable of sources, but I just googled it and there are several other articles stating that diesel soot falls to the ground.

But while it is in the air, sure the soot affects the air quality. But the reason we can see it in the first place is because the particles are so large, and for this same reason, the particles fall to the ground when they get cooled off enough to where there is not enough heat to keep them in the air.

How does that justify anything it says it isn't harmful if you clean it up with a filter (like a dpf) most of the trucks that have them get taken off

"Now, the good news is that unlike carbon-dioxide, black carbon doesn't linger in the atmosphere for very long, which means that if you clean it up, the climate problems it's causing can be ameliorated in fairly short order."

That is a retarded ticket...... I blow smoke when it is called for. There is nothing wrong with a little smoke every now and then. I am not worried about appeasing a bunch of hippies and ******. This is still America, I will do what I please, not what pleases others. If they are "offended" oh well. And by not smoking, You are not helping so get off your pedal stool. The people that want these crap rules are going to get them, because they are more devoted to their cause of eradicating big cars and trucks. Not smoking is not going to "Help" with anything. Your trucks are still putting out crap whether you can see it or not. I am tired of those crying about smoke all the damn time. "It gives us a bad name" No, morons that have no business owning a diesel trucks give "us" a bad name. What is the point in having a diesel if you don't use it?
I didn't know you knew so much English.:neener

Well said. They try to shutdown power plants becuase of emissions, and you can't see any plume out of the stack at all.
funniest post tigger has ever made.

Ok I don't think we're understanding each other here haha I'm saying that even with the dpfs off of our trucks and with that soot going into the air, those soot particles fall back out of the atmosphere and to the ground on their own anyway, so diesel exhaust is one of the last things all the hippies and epa should be worrying about.

its funny how the people on here who want clean air for there grandkid's grandkids etc...are bashing the diesels they drive.
do any of you know how much more efficient your duramax is than a comparable gas burner?
30% right off the lot.
in other words maybe if we replace the gasoline engines in cars with small displacement diesels and the ones in trucks with modern diesels...30% less fuel used
Percent of US oil supply that comes from Saudi Arabia-30something%

with the technology coming from the biodiesel fuel and hydrogen injection fields duramaxs have been made to get 50+ mpg's. no dpf or urea BS. this technology is 10 years old by now

stop bashing diesels for blowing smoke cuz they are the future of the automotive industry

solution to coal plant emission's= nuclear power.

pollution is inevitable no matter what kind of filter they put on a diesel truck.

the image of what our Earth once was is quickly fading, especially with my generation of teenagers and they don't care.

i fear for our future.

a lot of people's jobs rely on gasoline, take that away over night and a lot of people will seriously be screwed within a week.

i don't believe a direct change over to diesel for everything will ever happen, not even over a period of time.

society is already set in it's ways and all of our cards have already been played, there is no going back.

man used to be one with nature and the sun and the moon.
now we are "people of the clock"; a society where everything depends on time and money.. time-is-money... how am i going to pay my bills this month...

what's done is done and the tree hugging activists need to realize this.

I don't bash the truck I drive I wouldn't trade it for any other truck, what I am saying is that someone should come up with a filter that works properly, I blow a little smoke sometimes when I'm pullin I can't help it but I DON'T GO doing it on purpose

true but europes made the conversion

i think that a diesel suburban that got 30mpgs would sell very well if u could just market it right to the US people...look at the 1990's u didnt see anything but tahoes excursions suburbans etc. imagine now if u could have one and it not be considered a gas guzzler planet-killer? but dirty diesels of the past have given the new ones a bad name. i know ill never sell my diesel for a hybrid haha for emission and political reasons

no dice in todays economy, GM and Ford price their diesel options too high and people in general wouldn't understand why it's better to buy a diesel even if you showed them all of the benefits on paper.

yea they are trying to start construction on a new clean coal plant down in taylorville, Il but the damn EPA keeps shoving the permits to the back of the stack...i did realize at a town meeting though that sierra club people a NUCKING FUTS!!!
There is no such animal as clean coal unless the plant is a coal gasification plant. The emissions from coal whether in the air or captured and sent to your local landfill is still there. So the big question is do you want to breathe or drink it because it will eventually make its way to the ground water. Coal power plants have made me lots of money but, the truth is the truth!

particulate filters are bullchit and everyone from GM to Gale Banks to you and I know it. you can eliminate almost all smoke on a stock/street truck with better built engines/tuning. race trucks aside because of the fuel needed to light a large turbo but still there are trucks that run fairly clean and run damn fast and its not cuz they have a GOOD dpf
