I have a coolant leak (head gaskets). Took off the heads and everything looks good. They're at the machine shop getting checked for cracks and surface flatness.

Questions:
Can I check the valves myself and what to look for?
How do I press the new valve stem seals on?
Should I lap the valves and if so can you recommend a lapping fluid?

Lightly used 2005 LLY with 240,000 miles

Thanks!

I used a socket, a wrench and an alternator bolt to press in the seals. See picture. I believe it was a 12mm 12 pt socket. Auto part Groupset Metal
