Hey guys i did my headgaskets last week and just put the truck back together and fired it up everything worked great easy to start, then shut it off to check for leaks ect. and went to restart it and it cranked a bit more than usual and fired was running fine but i noticed that my fuel gauge was droping quickly so i shut it off and drained about 10 gallons of fuel oil out of it. this was in the first 5 mins of running so i pulled the valve covers off but cant find a loose return rail bolt or anything. is there any way to pressuize the system without putting it all back together to find the leak? because i have the ICM off and the fuel filter as well

thanks guys !!!!

We had fuel in our crankcase on our 5.9 cummins. The injectors were bad and it was leaking into the crank case. just a thought.

When you pump the fuel primer does it build pressure?

You have a leaking injector line-- you will have to pull the valve covers off to find it!

hey guys i got the valve cover off on the passenger side and i put a pressure gauge on it and it wont hold any pressure, so i pulled the line off to the rail on the drivers side and it will 15psi for a long while, but i cant hear or see where on the passenger side its leaking should i tear the lower valve cover off and check the banjo bolts on the return?

You should at least recheck the injector fittings and make sure they are tight.

Some guys was able to run the engine with the cover off-- that way they could find the problem.

Like jc1843 said- probably a return fitting loose/leaking- also could be cracked/leaking line. been there..

It just means he put a post in so he can track the thread and make it easy to find later-just a internet thing
