I guess the term "best oil" is relative. Probably the bulk of us that use conventional oil use rotella T, as do I. As for synthetic, its compleatly random, many like amsoil. Rotella makes a good synthetic, and mobile does as well. I personally use rotella T 15-40 with an acdelco filter. Thats just what I use, and its served me pretty well so far, 170,000+ miles.

I personally wouldnt use oil additives, but regular lucas works in all conventional oil, if you were wondering.

I havnt blocked the egr yet on my truck. I'm not sure what kindof difference to expect when I block the egr on my LB7 duramax(2003-20041/2) year model.

X2 once again on lucas not going in the duramax. If your looking for something more than just conventional oil just go with synthetic oil, and filter. Like rebowties said Rotella T6 5w-40 is a quality product. I would match a synthetic oil with a better filter too, EX: a mobile filter.

Not tryin to jack the thread, but is it ok to start using synthetic oil at 200,000. I have a pet peave about oil pressure and I want mine to be higher. I have always used Synthetic in my gas burners, but I'm new to diesel. The OP always picked up when I went from dino to syn.

It would probably make it go lower with synthetic, hence 5w-40, instead of 15w-40. But I'm just being speculative.

Im a lucus fan and I think thick oil is good. I use any 15-40 oil. I use Rotella in my tow trucks and Valvoline in my dmax. As long as you dont use synthetic Lucas is fine to use
