Wanna a little more whistle on a LBZ without straight piping it. Cold air kit maybe? Need tips to get more whistle. Thanks in advance

a cold air intake will help a little, but to really make it scream, you need to either straight pipe the truck or put a bigger exhaust on it.

My lbz whistles pretty good with my silverline 4" on there. Haven't put an intake on there yet but soon.

My 2001 Dodge Cummins had a silencer ring in the turbo. It was more or less just a big snap ring. I took that out and it really made a big difference. I don't know if the Duramax has that or not and I haven't had the time yet to check.

Duramax does not have that silencer ring. I wish it was that easy on our trucks to get more whistle. Mine whistles pretty good with the AFE stage II and 4" exhaust....Although, mine is an LB7. I did hear a LBZ that was straight piped (pretty sure anyway) and it sounded awesome! I only heard it in Walmart's parking lot.

I've straight piped my 06 2500 Hd but how do you get by smog inspection with out the catalytic converter? I'd love to do a complete system with out it, I'm running the Edge Juice with attitude and it is OUTRAGEOUS in #5 but not alot of Turbo sound except when the waste gate is opening, What kind of Breather is best and won't set off my Computer?

You'll just have to keep the stock system for smog inspection. Careful with that Edge on 5. Your tranny won't like you. It's not a wastegate, it's vanes opening and closing. It's a variable vane turbo and the vanes open and close with the tuning. Get a dry filter. K&N's fluid will suck out of the filter and pulg up the MAF sensor.

Where do you live that you have smog inspections? Diesels are emissions exempt in PA and most other states. There is no wastegate on an LBZ. Definitely get a dry flow.

Remove the resonator on the intake and block the egr. this will make it louder.

Wow I cant beleave no one posted this yet :rof http://www.duramaxforum.com/forum/diy-tech-discussion/7258-louder-whistle-sounds-good.html

Thats a $5 upgrade so it helps a little. I agree with intake and straight pipe helping the most.
I was thinking the same thing!! Even if you do this mod, unless you str8 pipe it you really won't notice much if any of a difference. But if you don't want to str8 pipe it and really want that "jet engine" sound, there is always the Ford 6.0!!:joke
