sweet i just ordered 360* blue led for the truck had a couple lights go out and i hate when things arent perfect!

ok so i got my cluster/4x4/headlight/cargo switch all soldered up. they look awesome! but i went to take a part my hvac control and broke the lever trying to pop the little rubber cover off. do you guys have any tips or tricks to taking apart the manual climate control 2 knobs(fan speed/air direction) 2 sliders (driver temp/pass temp)? i have a new hvac control on the way and wanna figure out how to get this done before i break the new one as well!

i used the 360* led from superbrightleds.com and 470ohm resistors from radio shack. i got 2 194-size 5 led bulbs for my gauges too it def looks good!

def need to do the hvac though i just cant get it apart! any tips would be appreciated!

I have the ones to do the cluster, but what did you use to do like the 4 wheel drive and stuff?

i used the same bulbs as i did the cluster so they appear the same in color. used the same process to do them as well. i ordered 30 led's so that i would have enough to do all my controls. still have 15 left!

from wat i understand the 2002 uses a 194 style bulb. the 03+ trucks have a soldered in bulb. i got mine from superbrightleds.com

i live in albany i think its quite the trip. i have never seen the inside of an lmm and wouldnt know where to start on taking it apart. id def help you out anyway i could though!

do those lights for the other lights on the dash just plug in or do you have to solder em?

all of them require soldering. all require the resistors

ya albany to rochester is quite a trip im smack dab btw you two in rome/utica ny...anyways so by my understanding jaylat you used 194 led bulbs to solder in behind your gauge cluster? never thought of that...must work pretty good seeing how those bulbs are already 12V no need for resistors.....

i did not use the 194's. they are for the pre-'03 trucks. i used the 360* superbrightleds.com 5mmblue led's. i got 2-194 blue 5led bulbs 1 for each of my autometer gauges. they look sick! cant wait to get the climate control done and do the doors!

Do the LEDs dim? When driving at night on secondary roads, I usually turn my dash lights down so they aren't so bright.

they will still dim

When you pop the needles off, do you have to mark where there were or is there some sort of a keyway so they are lined up when you reinstall them?

i left the needles off til i plugged the cluster back in the truck and the stepper motors reset themselves when you turn the key on and this is when i placed the needles back on at their lowest point. its actually dead on with my gps speed now before it was 2 mph faster!

Alright guys, so I am wanting to do this, not sure if the 4led 90 degree lights will work, or if I need to get the 5led 360 degree lights, any opinions? Also I have an 01' so I will be getting 194 style LEDs

there is also a 6 and 9 led 194 style wedge that looks promising.

i would reccomend the 5 led bulbs for the 360* view. you dont want to buy the 4 led bulbs and wish you wouldve went with the 5 because there are dark spots...

def get one that has an led facing up! you will want the 360* view. it should eliminate hotspots too!

i have not done the switches but i believe you need the 3mm led's but im not sure. they must be small to fit under the switch. i will find out when i take the door panels off.

ok so the only thing have left to do on my dash is the airbag shutoof switch. has anybody done this yet? there is a little orange strap that is attached to the wire and the plug i dont wanna remove it without knowing it can be done

Just finished up re-doing all my cluster lights with the 330 ohm instead of the 470 ohm resistors! Way brighter with the 330, it is freakin spectacular!

be careful doin this i went with the 470 because of the led's i used. you dont want to run too much power through the led or it will cause premature failure!

Thanks jaylat, I know that is what the led manufacturer recommended was the 470, but they looked more purple than blue to me with the 470. The OP used the 330 so I decided to give them a try and I think they look much better IMHO with the 330.

ok just wanted to let you know. wasnt sure if you had heard that or not...

i thought about the 330 but i just didnt want to have to tear apart everything and do it again. did you attempt any of the switches yet?

this also if you pick up a test light you can test the polarity just to double check you soldered everything in right

i have big hands andholding the led still while tryin to find polarity wasnt working lol so i had to use the test light... made it easier on my big a$$ ape hands
