sammcon repost pic, it didn't show.

porno here is a better pic/s

besides all of the bugs and other stuff, you get coatings of oils and other stuff from being on the roads. all of that stuff can coat the fins and not allow them to cool effectively.

the A/C cooler and the intercooler stays pretty clean because it is on the outside and the A/C cooler is not all that big and allows the stuff behind it to be washed away.

now the middle of the intercooler / coolant radiator can not get clean unless you break it apart, because they are covered with the top cross member.

Just figured I would throw this is for the heck of it. But if your fins are damaged they sell what's called a fin tool at most home air conditioning suppliers I personally would run it threw just because I have it apart and what little fins that are bent this tool will straighten them out. Another thing that I found works better then degreaser is an coil cleaner also used for home and commercial central a/c spray it on it foams up and rinse it off. Since we started using it we don't even use a power washer anymore its amazing how good the spray works

SIDE NOTE:
i did not show pics of the fan shroud removal because i truly forgot to take pics of the 4 push clips that hold it together and the 2 bolts on top (1 on each side)

respectfully
nate

I'm normally quite competent but honestly I was having the hardest time with the 4 push clips. Any advice for removing those?:help

Pry the center of them up with a flat head and remove the center piece, then pull the rest of the clip out.

when trying to remove the 4 push clips that hold the fan shroud together, use the body clip removal tool and pry up on the center piece. once its about half way up, reposition the tool to the lower portion of the clip and it will pop out. be sure to do it semi-slowly because you don't want to lose it in the engine area. a flat tip screw driver will work if that is what you have, but I have found the body clip tool to have more control and it wont destroy the clip like a flat tip can and will.

Wow, there was a lot of stuff in there. I'm installing a grill screen behind my grille instead in front of it to help prevent this. Very good write up.
