The VB gets torqued to 111 inch pounds and 18 FT. LBS on the pan.(According to Mike L so it is right)
The picture of the valve body off of the truck is with all of the bolts installed that can be installed on the bench. So for removing it from the truck you need to take out all the bolts that are not installed in the picture. Also leave a couple of bolts partially installed so you do not drop your valve, that would be bad.
Once you have the valve down the instructions that are included with the kit will get you through the instillation of the shift kit.

When you put the valve back into the truck make sure that you get the little pin back into its track on the shift arm you can see it at the top of the first picture its on the back left side of the valve.

no, nothing should fall out. just make sure you un bolt the correct ones. it sorta helps to have another guy hold it while you un bolt it. and then have them guide it back up when you torque the bolts down. pretty straight forward. look at the first post on this thread. thats what i did and i went step by step by the pictures. and it worked great! good luck!

Anybody know? Can I use regular dex VI tranny fluid from the chevy dealer? not synthetic just regular VI? Will it hurt my tranny? I went to the dealer, gave them my vin and that is the fluid they sold me for it.

Dex3.

#97 ·
Stick says dex VI (6), dealer put my vin in computer and sold me dex VI(6) ! So what came in it 3 or 6? Why does dip stick and the dealer say 6?

Dex6 was never tested by Allison and over time, can harden the seals and cause leaks in the older transmissions, from what I was told by reputable transmission builder. It was recommended for me to use dex3 when I built the trans. 06 LBZ. Dealer will tell you what they are being told to tell you and not what is best (and usually know any better).

If yours is newer where you actually use the Trans go Jr kit aka 6speed then Dex vi is fine but transynd would be best.

Ok,I Installed the transgo jr. Plan on switching over to transynd. How much fluid do I need to fill it up after shift kit install, drain after a few miles, and refill? ( double drain method)

#102 ·
I believe a minimum of 4gallons probably get 5 to be safe.

If you use more than half of your supply on the first fill don't drain it till you get more fluid lol

i like how noone answered anyones questions on how much fluid was needed when dropping the pan and doing the transgo jr kit lol

#107 ·
Also another question i saw that wasnt answered (and i literally read every single post on this thread lol) should you relearn on ur higher hp tune? I also want to know, with an h&s mini maxx should you relearn on every tune after transgo jr install or only stock and the rest of the tunes will be okay? (the tunes are stock, 60hp, 120hp, and 175hp)

Thanks for the write up. :thumb

I was half way through the disassembly of the VB (under the truck) when I came upon this thread. Helped out a lot. I wish I saw the thread before I started but it is my own fault for not looking. It would have saved me some time.

Whats the consensu on high mileage trannys? I will be getting EFI soon and was planning on this as well. I am just shy of 290,xxx miles. What do yall think? Lifted 6" on 35's.

#112 ·
It takes 2 hours and the cost is primarily new fluid.. What could it hurt?

If you roast it you have an excuse for a BD, PPE, ATS, etc high performance replacement tranny and then you can be starting threads about what head bolts and turbo upgrades you should be getting.....:gearjamin

#113 ·
lol yeah that's true what he's saying^^ but it does not hurt to do the transgo and you'll feel like the tranny shifts wayyy better than before.

Ok just checking. 300k is nothing to scoff at. Wasn't shre if it was like switching to synthetic if you have high mileage and oil leaks. Ill look into getting it.

I have an 06lly I'm just de-tuned 40-50 hp right? If so, if let'a say for ease of math, you out a dsps5
1)40hp- is this the same as an 07
2)80hp- would this be a 40hp increase over a stock 07?

Just trying to see exactly what kind of stress ill be adding. Thanks in advance
