The VB gets torqued to 111 inch pounds and 18 FT. LBS on the pan.(According to Mike L so it is right)
The picture of the valve body off of the truck is with all of the bolts installed that can be installed on the bench. So for removing it from the truck you need to take out all the bolts that are not installed in the picture. Also leave a couple of bolts partially installed so you do not drop your valve, that would be bad.
Once you have the valve down the instructions that are included with the kit will get you through the instillation of the shift kit.

When you put the valve back into the truck make sure that you get the little pin back into its track on the shift arm you can see it at the top of the first picture its on the back left side of the valve.

I got a question, I think i'm having an issue with my A trim valve/ solenoid/ spring assembly and need to take the valvebody out to check it out (already have the kit installed). I want to order a new kit incase i find an issue inside but dont want to buy the entire Transgo kit for the 2005 5 sp, my question is will the Transgo jr kit designed for the 6 speed models work in my 5 sp if i'm just messing with the trim valves? basically are they the same? it's $65 vs + $200 so ordering the cheaper kit would be nice. thanks!

sorry for the thread jack!

I just got done with my Transgo Jr kit. It is very easy to do and not all that messy if you take your time and clean as you go. But the one complaint that I do have is that the directions that come with the kit sux!!!! If it wasn't for posts on this forum and a youtube video I would have been lost. I also added a PPE deep pan and flushed the tranny with Amsoil Torque Drive. I have already gone out for a slow and easy test drive and the trans shifts like butter. I'm gonna ease around most of the weekend and let it relearn itself before I hammer on it and see how 4th and 5th behave. I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who posted on here. It would have taken me 2 days to do it without you. I will give an update after I can really test it.

Ok, this is my follow up post. After driving the truck all weekend and just taking it easy I have noticed a few things.
Depending on the trans temp, reverse hits kind of hard to begin with but it is much better now.
I have noticed that the temp is running a little higher than it was before installing the kit and new fluid. I thought that I may have over filled it but have verified a few times that I am half way on the hot range. It's not running hot by any means, just warmer than it was before.
I run it pretty hard on the way to work this morning and I noticed that the clutch chatter I have having in 4th and 5th gear are gone. This makes my VERY happy because this is the main reason I installed the kit.
I love my Banks IQ but the 6 gun pisses me off for a couple of reasons. #1 I hate the speed limiter!!!!!!!! #2, Every time my trans slips the least little bit my tuner throws a code and I have to wait until it resets itself. I am thinking very seriously about getting rid of the 6 gun and going with the flash turner that Banks offers. I anyone else knows how I can keep my IQ and 6 Gun and over ride the rev and speed limiter please let me know.
So like I said before. The instructions that came with the kit suck. But thanks to our little community here I was able to complete the upgrade with no problems.

Tips/Tricks For Transgo Jr.

Transgo install pics!

The picture of the valve body off of the truck is with all of the bolts installed that can be installed on the bench. So for removing it from the truck you need to take out all the bolts that are not installed in the picture. I installed my trans go jr today. I followed the 111 inch lbs for the valve body and the second bolt I did stripped out before the torque wrench clicked. I was so P!$$@&. I hardly ever drink but I went right to the fridge and grabbed two beers. Took the valve body apart again and the threads that stripped were in a hole that had half as many threads as almost all the rest. There was maybe 2 or 3 holes like this.

Lots of thinking, calling to see how much a new valve body was and another beer later I decided there was plenty of meat in this area of the stripped threads so I got a 5/16 24tpi bolt, half threads half shouldered like the original one and drilled and tapped the stripped hole.the original bolt was a grade 10.9 M6 fine thread. The hardware store didn’t have any metric equivalents of the next size up with half threads half shoulder so I settled for the 5/16, the m6 bolt was pretty much a 1/4 bolt.

Anyways got it all together and was wayyyy to dirty to get in my truck and relearn it at 7pm so I’ll do it tomorrow. But I did get it all back together filled and running. I was pleased with how drilling and tapping went and am confident in the work performed lasting a long time.

one of the calls I made was to Mike L and he said “ohh, that’s not good”. He also said 111 inch lbs was way too much. At most 96 inch lbs but states he usually gets away with tightening them with a nut driver by hand. I realize this thread is on the older side but hopefully this will prevent someone else’s heart from dropped so hard it hits them in the nuts and makes them hurt (no joke). I was so ticked. Gm dealership quoted me $1400 for a new valve body and I didn’t make it far enough research to be able to find anyone who sold just the lower half of the valve body.
