I'm looking into tuners to try and gain some mileage, how far can I go with a tuner before needing tranny upgrades, and what will the transgo jr do for me? If it'll make the trans last longer, i'll go ahead and do it too.

Welcome to DF! :drink

If I was you I would just get efi live right away and most people will say about a 100hp is pretty safe on a stock trans.

What do you want to do with your truck just better MPG or do you plan on building it up one day? A trans go jr is a great investment in they 6spd Allison and will help you hold a little more power.

With the trans-go jr you can go about 120hp over stock....even if you dont plan on going with that much hp over stock, it is cheap insurance(about 100-150 dollar)!!! And welcome to the DF too

Thanks for the quick replies

I don't plan on getting rid of this thing, as it seems it's the end of an era in the diesel world. I don't really plan on building it up much for quite a while, but I'd like to push the 500 hp mark eventually.

That's kind of where I was leaning toward, I don't want to go crazy with it right off the start, I've had it just about a month, and I love it so far, huge step from the 08 half ton i had before, payment's about the same, and so is the mileage, with a ton more power, so i'd say fair trade. Will the PPE let me block the EGR code as well?

Very good upgrade thats for sure. Like crdmax said the trans go is a great insurance for your trans and with it you will be able to hold about 120hp over stock. If you didn't go with the PPE because of price the Quad Stealth 2 is suppose to be the best bang for your buck on the LBZ. Or if you want gauges with your programmer look at the Edge Evo they are doing good things with the LBZ also. Otherwise after you programmer get gauges to be able to keep an eye on your Exhaust Gas Temp or EGT's.

I like the looks and simplicity of the edge. Which all versions of the Edge will give me the turbo brake feature?
