I have an 02 duramax dually and just bought a weekend warrior 40ft. I need to increase the towing capacity from 14,400 to approx 17,000 and am not sure if this can be done. I have the power thanks to banks performance stuff but am concerned about the axle, springs, brakes, tranny , etc. Anyone have any ideas how to resolve this ?

;axle is ok
;springs, ok, but you can augment with airbags
;brakes, trailer brakes????
;tranny, my TD-EOC reduces tranny temps 15-20 degrees.

;etc. On hot days, on steep hills, you want to make sure you have a good cold air intake. The fan is a mileage killer also. The big EOC took care of that too. IOW, cooling system improvement.

i put around 24k on the back of my truck w/a g-neck on a regular basis, the last truck was a 2500hd w/the bigger aam axle and now have a 06 3500 srw lbz and you can't hurt anything but the springs, luckily you have the top overload spring on the dually i been trying to find out if i can add it to mine

All the dealers I ask about tow ratings say those numbers are very conservitive, it will tow more. But it is a way for them to save money on warrunty work keeping those numbers low. I live by the imperial sand dunes in cali I see overloaded trucks every weekend even 1/2 ton tundras pulling 30+ 5th wheels.
