My 06 is currently in the shop at a local Chev. dealership. It lost an injector (which was impressive) on the road. After they diagnosed the problem, I was told that GM no longer manufactures these injectors, they only refurbish the old ones. While I find that hard to believe, here is the biggest kicker, there is a 3 week back log in recieving a new/refurb one. The service manager tried to get one from a local injector shop that specializes in rebuilding them, but the last one they had was sold a few hours earlier. Am I the only one that is suspicious about this turn of events? If it is true, how on earth can GM not be have enough stock on hand to instantly repair these engines? I have always owned GM vehicles, but after losing two turbos and one injector within the past year, to say nothing of a possible 3 week down time, my patience with GM is wearing extremely thin.

I just logged in to post the exact same question as my truck has been sitting idle for 3 weeks as well, waiting on 1 injector. I do not know anything regarding the refurbished aspect, as the tech has not mentioned this to me. So, my question is, I have searched for replacements and I see where I can purchase a non GM injector for pretty much the same price but will it hurt to have an aftermarket injector mixed in with OEM?

I am seriously considering going to look at Ford's tomorrow as this wait is completely unacceptable and costing me money everyday. Do you think there is any recourse that can be taken against GM.....I am not talking legal I simply mean if you stated your case to them, would they consider covering the cost since it is out of warranty (at least in my case)?

Just a quick update for anyone with this issue:
I have now spoken with 3 different dealers and all have done a local and national search with no luck finding a single injector. I have checked online wth the various sources for new and/or remanufactured and again, nothing to be had.
So, I placed a call to GM Customer Service and they too stated this was a national outage/backorder situation yet nobody seems to have a true timeframe on when they will be available. I have now heard everything from the 15th (2 days ago) to mid-November. A "District Specialist" from GM is supposed to be calling me within 24 hours so if I get anywhere I will update you but I would not expect much.

According to the vendors to which I have spoken, this is supposedly a Bosch problem. I do however hope that the GM boys are taking this seriously, because they are getting the rap for this fiasco. One vendor states he has a customer that has been waiting for over a month already with no timetable for parts. I feel exactly the same as jski in that my shadow may touch a Ford lot for the first time in my life.

Well, I have officially surpassed the 4 week mark without my truck and am entering week 5 with no resolution/part. I can get an injector from an outside vendor however, I am so far into this now with GM and the dealership I need to see it thru and hope for the best.
I have been told by a District Specialist at GM that the injectors are due in on November 1st and have also heard that the issue is with a supplier to Bosch.....granted none of this helps any of us who are waiting for the part to get on the road any quicker.
At this point I have asked GM to consider extending the warranty and am supposed to get a return call late on Monday with a decision, so we will see what happens.
Will update more when I know more but in the meantime, still waiting.

I didn't read this whole thread, but I know LBZ injectors were hard to come by a little while back, even aftermarket.

I scored one new one from a dealer in Canada. Might check across the border if it is do-able for you. By the sounds of it I'm going to have to put it on ebay.... Haven't used it yet. But I got it.

I lost #8 months back waited 4 weeks for a replacement , then I went to canada and bought 1 myself, the dealer reinbursed and paid for my fuel to get it, the plant (bosh) is moving from mexico to somewhere in south america. my father in law was at the plant (assy flint) and talked to a engineer about this ,he had no idea about our issues and was going to look into it also, most dealers have them in stock for their own installs and will not sell to anybody else , so good luck on that, the dealer down the street had a complete set and told me NO so I told the parts guy to F off and even told GM corp to f off never will I ever buy another GM product again. they told me sorry for my inconvienance

PATIENCE??? I had to cancel my vacation and lose money because the campgrounds would not refund all my money, the kids were crushed...how about getting these men their parts... Under warranty these parts should be in stock, big black eye on the bowtie, as these people rely on their vehicles, How about putting pressure on the dealers to release their parts, we know they have them....

Joey,

While I appreciate your willingness to look into this issue I feel as though I already have enough people involved both from the GM level and the dealer level, but there are likely others on here with the same issue who will take you up on your offer.
At this point I clearly understand the problem at hand and know that it is with Bosch and not GM however, and as unfair as it may seem, the GM name is stamped on the truck and not Bosch so the brunt of the criticism lands on GM, as unjust as that may seem. I like many others rely on my truck to help make a living and with that comes certain financial decisions, which in this case has led me to replace the 1 bad injector as opposed to what most people have suggested, replacing all 8 (parts alone $500 vs $4000). The looming question is now and will continue to be, what will the future hold for the reliability of this truck...when will the other shoe drop and where will I be when it happens. Obviously neither you nor I know the answer to this however, the question remains as to what if anything GM will do if/when another one fails in a week/2 weeks/month, etc.?
I realize you can not speak for GM however, I can tell you that this is what your customers who have been down an extended period of time with this problem, want and need to know.

Again, thanks for your willingness to help and I hope that a positive resolve comes quickly not only for myself but for the other owners who are facing the same problem.

Week #5 Update:
I received a call from the GM District Specialist on late Monday afternoon as promised, and it was stated that GM will cover the cost of 1 injector as well as labor. While the part has not yet arrived (they are saying November 1st) and while the wait has certainly been far from acceptable, I am thankful to GM for covering this.
I did ask the question regarding coverage of the other 7 and in a nut shell they stated that since they are not bad they are not going to replace them and that "IF" one should fail in the future then at least I have a well documented file with which to make solid case.

So, the wait continues but we have progress. I will update more when I know more.

Let me know if it doesn't come in on the first. I have a new one from G M with the receipt, I could be talked into letting go for cost. Sit down before you ask how much, cause I bought it in Canada, lost a couple percent on the exchange rate, $90 ish in tax, and $150 core... But hey if gm is buying.....

I paid 850.00 including core. Why would they not pays for it? is it out of warranty? and if it is how you get that around them, the TSB recommend that if poo87 is thru, it might be a cp3 pump going bad and to replace the pump and all injectors. make sure they follow the TSB. I will find and let you know the #`s
