Hi, I have a 2005 duramax that rund rough (almost like the limp mode) for a while after a stop sign. Today it continued with lack of power, only get up to 55 after a few miles, and blew black smoke like heck out the back. I have had the injector wires repaired a few years ago because of the mfg problem, but this seems very different. Not showing a light or codes from my code detector. Could this be ab injector going bad? the turbo? what do you experts think?

Thanks

Check the inter cooler tubes-- you may have the lower boot loose or off. Another problem is the EGR will get stuck in the open position and you will lose power and have black smoke.

Another check you should do-- is the FICM harness at the passenger side of the alternator. It is tied down with a Zip tie to the FICM bracket, and the sharp corner of the bracket cuts into the harness. Only takes a minute to check and insulate.

All 04.5 -05 LLY owners should check this!
