Anyone out there know if it is safe to run military jet fuel (JP5)

NOt JP5, but you can run JP8. When I was in the Army my Helo(UH-60) ran on JP8 as well as my Humvee. The Army runs all its diesel vehicles on JP8. JP5 is more kerosene based if memory serves, kinda like #1 diesel or arctic diesel.

actually jp5 is most like diesel, it will cause your engine to run a little hotter though. Jp4 and Jp8 are more kerosene based. That is why we had to defuel them when they landed the helo on board a ship back in the day. Jp4 and Jp8 have a lower flash point that is not allowed onboard military ships jp5 flashes around 140+ ,Should run on all though.

You never see anythng but JP8 anymore, unless you go abroad. We run nothing but in the big power units we plug into the aircraft. Works fine, No smoke.

we always ran jp5 in our captain gigs in the navy and they had 12 valve cummins in them
