I recently purchased a PPE Xcelerator and EGR blockoff with the module (fingerstick). After talking to some friends and local dealer mechanics, they said the blockoff will raise the exhaust temp and reduce power.

I find this confusing since the guy at PPE said it will reduce EGR's. Can someone with some expertise clarify this for me. Thanks.

most local dealer mechanics don't know what they are talking about. PM 05LLY (moderator here). He actually had the stuff installed on his truck. Blocking the EGR valve stops exhaust gasses from entering back into the engine. I would call BS on this. You will be running higher boost with the PPE programmer so your EGTs should go down. I would still install an EGT guage though so you know how hot you are getting.

Thanks. The Pyrometer is on my list. I'd like to get the piller mount but the ones I've seen don't offer a single gauge. The one's I've seen are 2 or 3 holers.

THe blocker plate will lower egts due to the exhaust no longer going back into the intake. as well as keep soot out of the intake side of the engine. you would not beleive the amout of soot that will collect in there in just 8000 miles!

There is some truth to it loosing power when you install the blocker due to the p0401 code that will set. THats where the fingerstick comes in, it keeps the codes from setting and causing defuel!!!!!!

i have an 06 extended cab 4 wheeldrive duramax i have an hypertech hyperpac a banks ramair kit and a magnaflow turbo back 4inch exhaust kit on it. the truck has run 14.84 in the quarter but it did not have the exhaust kit or the banks kit on it then. i keep getting a code saying that the egr valve is not working right, it has been replaced once and now its doing the same thing that it was doing before the dealer replaced it. it just wont run like it used to. i took it to the track last weekend and the best it would do is 15.86. if someone could help me i would appreciate it.

I've decided against installing the PPE EGR blockoff plate and fingerstick. If anyone is considering one, make me a reasonable offer.

That is not correct.

Both the plate and the electronics are different for the pre-2006 LLY and the 2006+ LLY and LBZ. If you bought from PPE, it is not an original Fingerstick, so who knows, the code blocker might work, but the plate will not, they are physically different dimensions.

The PPE site gives the option to pick pre and post 2006, so I would suspect their code blocker is also not one-size-fits-all.

Thanks, good to know. I don't know why they have it listed together unless it's to save ad space. I specifically ordered this one for my LBZ.

Thanks again :rockin

i have a question for all of you if i have the egr block plate on my lbz i will lose power ???
and also i have the edge juice with att that can clear the code but if i clear it then shut my truck off then go to start it again it throws a code again so i set it to disable all engine codes but this could be bad . killerbee what do u do about that ?

No the blocker plate will not cause a loss in power. If you are losing power then theres gotta be another issue. Yea you definately dont want to disable all codes. You need to buy a fingerstick. Kennedy Diesel sells them and they arent too dificult to wire in. I was sick of clearing the codes every time I started the truck so I put the fingerstick in and no more EGR codes. That or EFI live can completely turn off the EGR system, I think thats the only one that can do that.

Ya I think fingerstick is the best bet if you dont have or dont plan on EFI live. As far as PCV I think its a good idea. Something Id like to eventually do someday but nothing extremely crucial to be done. I definately think blocking the EGR is more beneficial and more crucial. I havent fully researched PCV reroute but it couldnt hurt.
