the brackets are the shock extenders...when you crank the torsion bars you will need a longer shock or the extenders if you plan on using stock height shocks.

The only things you will really need to install it yourself is the torsion bar unloading tool.

I bought one for like 40 bucks on ebay....looks a strangely shaped clamp.

A hammer and something skinny to knock loose thetorsion bars cause more than likely they will have some rust on them.

a couple smaller sockets and some PB blaster or WD40

A local shop is putting on my keys and installing new shocks (Which I already have) for $75.00. I'm just dropping off my truck before work and I will pick it up before lunch. Much easier if your crushed for time.

should i use the new shock mounts with my kit or buy new taller ones
Seeing how rough the stock shocks ride you would be happier if you bought new ones. I'm a big fan of skyjacker nitro shocks and bilisteins are great too from what i hear. If you are on a budget use the extension mounts you have now with the stock ones. But if you want a better ride get new, longer ones:rockin
