This bulletin is being revised to provide the field fix. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 07-08-50-018A (Section 08 -- Body and Accessories).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Important: Implementation of this service bulletin by "GM of Canada" dealers requires prior Warranty Manager approval.

Condition
Some customers may comment on excessive lint accumulation on the cloth seat material. Darker colored seat fabric seems to show the condition more than lighter fabrics.

Cause
The source of the lint accumulation is not the seat fabric material. The seat material, though, exhibits a tendency to accumulate and retain lint from sources that come into contact with the fabric.

Correction
Important: All seats will need to be updated in the vehicle. Let customers with RPO 19D know that the appearance of the insert material will be noticeably different.

If the customer has ebony colored cloth seats, replace the seat covers (back and cushion), the headrests and the armrests with revised fabric. Refer to SI for the appropriate seat back and cushion cover, headrest and armrest replacement procedures.

The number to call is 1-800-222-1020. Tell them your complaint and they will open up a case for you. My case is currently ongoing, but they will try and offer you something to resolve the issue. In my case, they told me that the Engineers are working on a solution. You can accept this, but you MUST let them know that this still doesn't solve your problem and you are not happy. Otherwise they will close your case. I'm pushing to have my seats replaced with leather. I don't know that it will happen, but at least they won't close the case. If they get enough complaints, they will be forced to do something about it quickly. And quickly means replacing them with leather. They were aware of the problem with the seats before these trucks even went into production, but failed to correct the issue. Now they are regretting it. Be sure to let as many people know about the 800 number and get as many people as you can to call. The more complaints, the quicker the solution.:)

Thanks for the info.......
thank for the idea
leatherseats.com solved my problem nicely.
Thunderlord you are right leather is the way to go.

Another thing I will add to this thread there will not be a recall for this item your truck has got to be in the 3 years 36000 mile warranty to get the new seat covers.

As she informed me is that it has nothing to do with safety that why it is not no recall on it.

You should have no problem getting replacements seat covers I think that is what I am going to have to do I turned in a claim with them a month ago and I wonted to upgrade to leather I told the ladies on the phone that I would pay a reasonable amount for the upgrade she said she would get back a hold of me but has not.

But the cloth will cost you nothing if it is steal in the factory warranty

I heard of this about 2 month ago my cousin work for the Fucia plant in Kansas City they make all of the seat for the Malibu Saturn & Buick cars the same company make the seats for the trucks but in another state.
i have noticed the lint build up and it has always bothered me. thanks for the number i will definitely call them tomorrow with my complaint. leather seats sure would be nice, should have gone with them in the first place...
The cloth is also crappy in the 09 trucks!
I have the lint issue also and I haven't put 2,000 miles on mine yet!! Thanks for the number, I'm going to call them tomorrow!:D
seats

i have 45k on my truck now is it even worth calling???? or will they tell me to basically pound sand
Will they do this for my 05 68K with my warrenty expired???
I have a 08 DMax HD with the Crappy Cloth seats. I'm only 17,600 miles and 2 yrs into my 3 yr 36,000 mile warranty. I'm calling first thing in the AM to open a claim on my seats. I will also push for Leather Seat replacements, and will report back here the results of the phone call. Thanks for the #!! :rockin
Yes GM will exchange cloth seats for leather seats---You just have to pay the difference. I put in katzkin leather of a much higher quality for less money than the difference was to stay with GM. All I can say is that my interior is nothing but nice.
I called Chevrolet today, and have an appointment with my local dealer next week. They had never heard of this issue, so we shall see what happens. I'll report back after my appt.:D
Took the truck into my local dealership. They soon had a report from Chevrolet, that verified the fact that I had indeed have the 19 D Fabric installed in my truck. They told that they would be doing a full replacement of the seat covers, armrests, head restraints etc., all covered under my trucks warranty.

Question: Should I consider paying the extra $$$'s for leather interior??
