Hey, Mike here with a 2013 lml duramax losing prime. It’s fine during the day but loses prime overnight. I thought it was my fass filters on my lift pump so I changed them, was fine for a few days but then It started losing prime again. I was poking around up front near the stock fuel filter and seen a bunch of diesel around where the prime button is. Any ideas??

Could I just buy a whole new one? I’m not confident in my rebuild skills

You sure could. It’s insanely easy to rebuild, but it’s up to you.

What does the rebuild consist of? A few gaskets? Do I have to take it off the truck in order to rebuild

I would check to see if you can get a new filter head. I know the shop I use last Sept. had to wait a week or so to get a new one when they also put in a CP3 pump to replace the CP4. I believe the DMax store still sells a rebuild kit. My shop didn't want to mess with doing a rebuild even though I supplied the kit. I am pretty sure you need to remove the fiter head to rebuild. Possibly someone has done a Youtube video on how to do that.

I called auto zone the only place around here that has the white acdelco filters and they ordered should be there tomorrow at 3. The filter and the filter head was only 218. I figured I’d have that much paying someone to rebuild. I’m going to attemp to fix tomorrow I’ll let you know how it goes
