i have the factory high idle on my truck but it only works under cold temps. i live in south ga we dont c that cool of weather i farm so im all the time having to jump things off. is there any way to fool the computer or a after market system i can use?

Why do you think it only works when it is cold? I use mine all the time to jump people off no matter the temp. You have to cut it on in the dic display on the dash.

how you doin it? I'd love to set high idle on demand but onlyyyy has done it once when cold as sh!t outside.

Some of the northern built trucks have a fast idle option also. I don't remember the build code for it. But you can try and test for it if you have it. All you do is set the park brake and hit the set button for the cruise control after your truck has ran for a couple minutes and it bumps the idle up to like 1250 rpms. I have this and the elevated idle setting on my DIC. The elevated idle only works when temps are below like 32 degrees out. And once your truck coolant temp gets up to a certain point it will bump your idle up to around 1000 rpms.

I have an 08 and if i turn my key to the run position but dont start it, hold my gas peddle down and tap my brake 3 times with in 8 seconds it turns the elavated idle on. do the same to turn it off, it shows up in the DIC, but the thing is , It idle is no different when I start the truck,
Any one know anything about this or have any input

If look in the user settings on dic, there is an option to cut on elevated idle after the curb mirror assisst option, cut it on, set the parking brake, start truck, cut on cruise control, idle up to desired rpm, depress the set button on cruise, and the high idle is set. I do this all the time with my truck no matter the temp, and live in the south, truck was purchased here, I do have dual altenators (the ambulance/wrecker power package, two 140 amp altenators) but, do not think this is unique to the truck bc of charging system upgrade.

I lost my high idle when I got the EFI live programing, anyone know how to put it back? I don't have a EFI live programer...
Thanks

I got my efi from rob and now my elevated idle will not turn on either, I called and ast about it and he said efi had nothing to do with it... So that's just bad
Timing then or what? It worked before. When I do the steps to turn it on it only says "elevated idle off"
Help!!

My truck has the factory high idle option and idles up upon start-up in colder temps. I was also wondering about manually getting it to idle up so I looked in the owner’s manual and it states to put on the parking brake while the truck is in park or neutral, turn the cruise on and then hold the set button until idle elevates. I tried it on my truck and it works exactly as stated in my owner’s manual. Hope this helps those with LMM trucks and the factory high idle option.

EFI doesnt adjust the high idle settings in LMM, only the actual normal idle speed.

You guys are talking about "Elevated Idle" that is on all LMMs. When activated, it will raise the idle up when outside temps are very cold.

"High Idle" or RPO code UF3, is an option you must order with your truck. It allows you to control idle speed hi or low with the cruise control buttons. This can be added to a truck with software update for 2008 and up, but is expensive ($200 for option, plus dealer time). This is like the High idle on the early model duramaxs.

Basically, you are shit out of luck and stuck with "elevated Idle" only in a LMM, Unless your truck was ordered with the RPO code UF3, then you have a true high Idle.

This is correct then in the case of my truck as it was ordered with the UF3 "Factory High Idle Switch" option. So this is obviouslly why I can control mine manually.

As far as the elevated idle problems with efi live. I may have some answers, I went though the same thing last year when I got tunes from Kory. I have a 07.5 lmm and never had the elevated idle in the dic, when i installed the tunes it appeared on there but I could only shut it off, I could not turn it on, the only way I could do that was by doing the pedal dance. But as soon as I turned the truck off, elevated idle would be off in the dic. The problem is that the efi live tunes were built off an 08 lmm,
and for some reason it screws it all up.
Hopefully this helps some of you guys out.

I was able to get it to turn on with the pedal dance but I think it only did the elevated idle the first time I started it. Gotta wait for the temperature outside to cool down a bit again to check if it stayed on.

I think that the tuners don't care much because you can still get high idle to work by doing the pedal thing. Does seem weird that it doesn't seem which tuner it is that they all do it.

I can still turn my Elevated Idle on or off from the DIC, & I have Duramaxtuners tunes.

I think I typed to early. Did my research and it seems my elevated idle might still be there, just have to wait for below 32* in s. Texas. As for high idle, I have a tech 2 and can't find it anywhere in the system. Found the PTO but it disconnects me when I try and adjust it. Anyone done the mod to UF3 in a tech 2 without going to the dealer? TIA.
