LMM PCV Reroute

Here is a simple way to do the PCV Reroute on a LMM. Total cost is around $20. It takes 10 minutes to swap it back to stock configuration.

You will need approx 10' of 5/8" heater hose, 3/4 brass crimp tee and 6 stainless steel hose clamps. Also a 1 1/8" rubber cap, recommend a oil resistant/high temp cap (I used a barstool cap for now). Billet plugs are also available.

First start by removing the Resonator box with the "6.6" Liter on it. Then you want to cut the plastic tubing approx 3" back from the tee on both sides where it narrows so you can slide the 5/8" tubing over it. Then where the PCV line was attached to the intake remove that piece and cap it with the 1 1/8" barstool cap, hose clamp it.

Now cut a section of the hose and install it between those to pieces of plastic tubing that you cut and hose clamp it. Cut it in half and install the 3/4" tee and hose clamp it. You can reinstall the 6.6 Resonator box back over the plugged intake. On the other side install the remainder of the 5/8" hose and route it over to the drivers side and down the inside of the frame thru the holes in the supports. Recommend extending it past the cab. Zip ty it up and your'e done .

Keep the OEM PCV Tee if you need to put it back to stock form for smog etc. Easy to put back on using two 2" lengths of 5/8" hose.

Update (4/09/11) I recently installed the Billet Plugs in place of the barstool cap and rubber plug, both were still in good shape after a year. Just wanted something stronger and safer.

Sorry about all of the missing photos, Photobucket screwed us all by charging $400 per year to let us use them on forums!! I will fix them eventually. GrrRRrr

Ya it's still there for now. The Las Vegas emission testing is the issue, plus I want to wait until the warranty is up.

Keeps the oil from going into the intercooler, egr and turbo. On my truck I had oil blowing out of the intercooler pipe boots. It was a mess...Not No More.

The Large plug is for the Resonator and the Small one is for the PCV intake. The top photo shows the two. You don't have to use the Resonator plug, the benefit of plugging it is if the plastic 6.6 box ever cracks someday it will not allow debris to be sucked into the motor. Some say you can here the turbo more, I really didn't.

Can't go wrong with the kit from Chad at Alligator, good price and includes two billet plugs. I wanted a way to have it routed so I can change it back easily for smog checks.

How is the tapered rubber plug holding up so far?

I just checked it last week and still looks new. Been on for about 14 months now.

Yep, should fit right over the plug. You really don't need it on anymore thou.

i know what u mean but im saying if i don't put a plug on there can i just put the 6.6 lid back on there after i re rout?

You can even put the 6.6 cover back on over the plug. Make it look stock again.

Hey wolf, Can I do this with no computer issues to my truck and without an egr blocker plate? Truck is stock performance wise with all the emmisions BS still on it. 52000 miles and want to do this if I wont have issues.
thanks

Yes Sir. No issues at all. Keeps the oil out of the Intercooler, Egr and Turbo. It's also very easy to change back to stock. Alligator Performance has a really nice kit that comes with two Billet plugs if you want a a cleaner more permanent PCV Reroute. The link is on the previous page.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

great write up WOLFN8TR. Going to do this on my truck. Was concerned about warranty and emission issues. but seems so easy to go back to stock if needed. I might even try going thru emissions with it. Not gonna plug the resonator though. Just gonna do the PCV reroute and use a billet PCV plug.

My intake boot is dirty too. How did you clean yours? Did you just do external cleaning or try to clean the tube also?

thx

It's very easy to change back to stock. I change it back for emission checks also.

I took off the top boot and cleaned all the oil out of the inside and reinstalled. Sprayed the entire intercooler tube with Simple Green and washed it off. I no longer have any oil leaking out of the top boot.

Update (4/09/11) Here is a photo of the intercooler tube. Nice and clean still.

Does plugging the resonator affect anything? Performance? Mileage? Just a way to ensure nothing falls down the tube in the event the box falls apart? And thanks for a great write up by the way.

Honestly No. If my turbo got any louder it's very hard to tell. I used a Tapered Rubber Plug and the box fits right over it. Be sure not to use anything metal like a plumber plug that has the wingnut on it.
