my 4wd isn't working very well and i think its my autolocking hubs? can i put manual lock out hubs on? just an idea

Those are the arb air lockers for the diff.
If you really want to get rid of the actuator they have a manual cable system you can replace it with.

well, i had my 4wd on and the driver side front hub was smoking and would grab every now and then

you dont have hubs the front ends full time your front end kicks out with ur gears with an actuator in the front end. the truck has hub assemblies which is a bearing that ur axle slides through to make the front tires grab.
