Have had no luck trying to find a TCM for my 2009 Duramax. GM part #24256861. I have been told this module fits 2009 to 2014 Duramax.
Have searched for new and used. Everyone has them on back order with idea of when they will be back in stock.

I have the same issue on the same vehicle. I have contacted every part source imaginable and NOONE has the part. I shipped it to CARZONE for rebuild and they shipped it back saying they cannot get the internal parts. Not sure what to do now. If you find a source, please share it (once you have yours). According to GMC, this is a high failure part.

I have a 2013 GMC HD 3500 with the same issue, no TCM's and do not know when they will make any. That was straight from GM! Is there some sort of work around for this problem? I am not sure what to do at this point. I have never owned anything but a chevy or GMC truck, but this pushed me over the edge and I bought a dodge 3500.

Well that sounds interesting Rob, do tell 🍿

Well...

1) GM/Ford have been "partnering" for truck transmissions ever since they both launched 8spds in their 1/2 ton platforms.

2) GM/Allison had a signed contract for Allison to provide 9spd HD transmissions starting in GM model year 2020.

3) GM canceled the contract to provide the 10L1000 transmission that was co-developed with Ford.

4) Upon GM canceling the 9spd Allison contract, Allison canceled any/all GM spare parts contracts for the Allison 6spd.

5) The Allison "spare part" contract included Allison proprietary TCM's...

Oh so unless they have come up with an updated contract, this ‘new’ part number is likely to not be a good part number any time soon…

rob is correct. i was a gm tech when the 10L1000 came out. i seen the transmission for the first time and told myself that looks like a ford transmission. the case looks identical to the transmissions behind the ford 6.7. as far as i know and was told. gm is building the transmissions under allison authority. which pretty much means their paying allison to beable to put that name on gm built transmissions. i got lucky and previous owner of my 08 put a dans diesel tcm in it right before i bought it.

A couple of years ago Ford pulled a similar stunt with the escort. Stopped making parts. A class action lawsuit resulted in Ford having to buy back many of the escorts they had sold. If you are interested in joining a class action lawsuit against GM and Allison, send an email to: b.alsup@live.com with “GM class action lawsuit” in the subject. If we can get enough interested parties, we can approach the same law firm that handled the Ford case. We could force GM and or Allison To produce the parts we need; or to purchase our vehicles back at a percentage of their retail cost.

SCAM ALERT: If you are looking for the TCU GM part # 24256861 beware of a large number of scams that have popped up in the last few months promising the part but just taking the money.

This Facebook page--https://www.facebook.com/United-Motor-Parts-105773212300583/--purports to be a legitimate business located in New Jersey. After a lengthy discussion with them about GM Part# 24246861 (a nation wide 'not available' part) I was going to pay the $700 for the part. But I grew suspicious about their payment methodology. They wanted me to pay thru PayPal as 'friend&family' which eliminates the vetting process and consumer protection. Then they wanted to be paid thru Zelle which should ONLY be used with people you know; again no consumer protection. Finally, I looked up the company, got the phone number from the web site and called them. They said the Facebook page is a scam and many people have been cheated. I reported this to Facebook but not sure if it will do any good.
Let the buyer be aware!

I am gathering names to initiate a class action lawsuit against GM and Allison Transmission. If you would like to join this action, send an email to b.alsup@live.com with GM Class Action Lawsuit in the subject line.

Thank you for your interest in joining the class action lawsuit against General Motors and Allison Transmission. There may be other defendants involved as well but I will leave that up to the lawyers.

Speaking of lawyers, we do not have a lawyer yet. We are still in the phase of gathering plaintiffs and need many more before any law firm with take the case. I have two children--both are corporate attorneys--who are providing me with guidance but cannot be involved. I believe that once we have at least 100 names, we should reach out to the law firm that won a similar case against Ford just a couple of years ago.

Please spread the word about this action to any source you can. The more names we can gather, the greater chance of getting a reputable law firm with adequate resources to pursue the case. Use your chat groups and social media to spread the word. Talk to your truck-driving friends who may have experienced the same issues.

Thank you in advance for your support.
