I am a newbie, but I would really like to join the Duramax club. I am looking at a 2003 right now that has thrown a few flags up at me that I wanted to throw by someone who might know better. The truck was driven for about half an hour to come meet me in a gas station for me to look at it but at idle it had as I can best explain as a smell of when you first start a diesel (maybe an overfueling smell) with white smoke faintly comming out of the tailpipe. Is this one of the injector problems that I keep hearing about?? It also on a testdrive had a bit of a louder "diesel knock" than a few friends duramax's.
Since I havent bought yet I would like to get some feedback on which years people think are the best.
