i am getting ready to turn 15,000 and was going to change the oil and filter on the engine. i was going to go ahead and grab a tranny spin on filter and some fluid and do it too. my question is when is a good referance to change the air filter???? it is not dusty where i live at all but the truck has 15,000 on it and it has never been changed. it is also the stock air cleaner

The manual should have recomended intervals for the air filter.

Truck should have a indicator or meter on filter housing to let you know how restricted the filter is.:)

not gonna say how often or how many miles you should change anything, that starts the 100 page threads. all i will say here is filters and fluids are cheap in comparison to new parts and labor. i personally change the tranny spin on every 3000 because i have allready replaced my tranny once, and 4-6 $ per filter and a little fluid to top it off is alot easier on the back pocket than the $6000.00 i paid for a new tranny(mine could not be rebuilt, the case had been fractured in the center). but that is another story entirely.

I think like 25,000 is the interval. Usually my rule is if you can hold it up to the sun and see light your good!

But, for the $20 its worth the extra insruance to change it sooner

i get mine by the case, at cost and they are Fleetgaurd. Go and talk to a parts guy at your local Freightliner or Cummins OTR shop and they should be able to hook you up, mabey not at cost but certainly not $24 each.
