Mobil Delvac 1™ ESP VS Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck

NAPA sold me 6-1qt bottles of the Turbo Diesel 5w40 and a gallon jug of the Mobil Delvac 1 ESP, both are 5w40 synthetics. I was wondering what the difference is so I called Mobil's 877 number. The guy searched his data and said, well he said a lot that I couldn't understand but for sure: Do Not Mix the two! In fact he said they wont mix. Later I found something that we discussed so I called back and got someone else who couldn't answer the "Mixing" question so he patched me through to engineering and he said: sure, mix them but he couldn't explain the differences.

I've searched here and found this question posed in 2016 with two replies and no answer.

Can I mix the two and what's the difference? Who's on first?

Take those back and get a 2.5 gallon jug of Mobile 1 Delvac plain Jane version. Easy to source at your local Wally world.

I would wager Billions (yes B) of trouble free miles have been logged using it. Fancy names doesn't always make it better.

IS the Mobil 1 Delvac same as the gallon jug I have?

No. G double O GLE tells me in 10 seconds that:

Delvac ESP is full synthetic @$47 per gallon
Delvac 1300 is synthetic blend @$38 for 2.5 gallons.

Not Delvac 1300... Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel, the full synthetic stuff AND Mobil Delvac 1 ESP.

I've used Mobil 1 for turbo diesels in my truck since that oil came out - around 2003-04 if I remember right. Recently, (last oil change) I switched to Delvac Extreme. It's full syn 15w-40 - which is what is specc'd for these trucks. I actually like it better than the Mobil 1 stuff since it's 15-40 and not 5-40, it seems to give me a bit better oil pressure. It's also about $5 a gallon cheaper than the turbo diesel stuff.

Now I find this on the Mobil web site:

A 0W-40? How would this oil fare on a hot Nevada highway?

Pick an oil weight your owners manual recommends. Gm vehicles tell you on the oil fill cap what oil weight is acceptable as a bare minimum. I use rotella t6 15-40. My truck is supposed to have 15-40 oil so I went with t6 full synthetic. I know t6 is hard to find so for the last few months I've been stockpiling a little in order to have time to find the next oil change.

If your doing your own oil changes make sure you have enough on hand to do a few while you look for oil until the idiot in dc is out of power and we start producing energy again instead of relying on terrorists dictators and Ukrainian/Russian thugs for energy.

Good post guys. Thanks.

Not meaning to go too far off subject... but there was an old saying back in the day that : "It took a Carter to get a Reagan", it took an "Obama to get a Trump." I can't help but wonder what the next one will look like.
