Seeing as this is going in a ford, i have to make my own mounts. Is there any disadvantage to solid mounts? It would be the easiest route to go.

i wouldn't, do you have the factory mounts? or did you just get the motor and tranny?

Yes i do have the factory mounts, but they will not work in my truck. Hold the motor about 5 inches too high in the frame

I have some Merchant Automotive motor mounts and the bushings look like a leaf spring bushing, very aggresive but still flexible, Id try to fab up something like that something beefy but still has some flex/vibration reduction to aviod alot of broken shit.

Yeah, definitely have some sort of rubber in the mount to take the vibrations. Otherwise the whole truck will rattle all the time, and you greatly increase the risk of breaking things (especially the mounts themselves) when there is nothing to absorb the torque.

Solid mounts = race car

The leaf spring bushings sound like a great idea. Ill have to go that route
