Might as well update this also

The blower motor quit working in the lb7 about a week ago. And it’s had a power steering leak that has gotten way worse since sitting for paint.

Took it to my buddy Jason that tony and I both have used before and he looked at it.

Resistor and harness was shot. Pretty common and I kinda thought that was it but wasn’t sure.

Power steering is a whole other issue. Needs a gear box which I knew and now 2 power steering lines are leaking pretty bad also. Bad enough where he uses a drain pan at night. And a tranny line has developed a small leak so whatever. Going to gather all the parts up and take back to Jason around Christmas break to get fixed up. Going to call around Tuesday and see how much it is to rebuild the current gear box vs just doing a Reman from GM.

Hey, at least it’ll be well sorted once you’re finished with it. Lol

Look at BlueTop, Joe, but you probably already have.

I’ve been hearing a bit of a whine, wondering if it’s my P/S pump. My whole steering/front end needs some major TLC.

I can get a smoking deal on a reman one through work. Huge benefit of my work industry. Lol

grove city work in clintonville
Not far at all.

If it comes to rebuilding I’ll be sending it to power steering specialist up in Westerville. That’s who we use at work and they do a killer job on it. Worth every penny imo.

Small update

Got the truck dropped off last week.

New GM gear box
2 new GM power steering lines
Also replaced a tranny line

Steering is nice and tight now. Made a decent difference for sure.

Newest issue is the security light has been on since we got it back from the painter. Now to go down this road to what’s wrong. Truck runs and drives fine other the light being on.

Maybe grounds?
These trucks do weird things with bad grounds.

I've got the same hood. One ground wire (driver's side) from it to the firewall stud.

I think I'm going to add another ground over on the pass side, see if it changes the radio or not.

Welp

This one has no ground wire at all. We might be going somewhere now.

Got a pic of which one and where from? I see the stud on the hood.

It just drops down from the hood to a stud on the firewall, just to the left of the MC in this pic.

I'll grab a closeup pic of the wire in the sunlight tomorrow.

Electrical gremlins. Cold weather is bringing them on.

I replaced the alternator and batteries about a year ago. The old one lasted a year.

This one, the voltage regulator seems to bounce once in a while. Yesterday, on a trip back from the city, all the lights started flickering for about 5 minutes or so, then it evened out. This evening it did it for a couple of minutes. Voltage is floating from 14 to almost 15.

I really don't want to change another. That will be 3 in 3 years. I have already replaced the batteries twice. Batteries are Delco. This alternator is a Delco reman and the last one was a NAPA reman.
