I bought a 2005 gmc from an auction and it has a longhorn fab shop efi live switch in it. Positon 2 is lope and 5 is whistle. I have no idea what 1,3,and 4 are. I dont want to ruin anything, is there any way to find out the other tunes?

The problem is NOT what the settings are.
The problem is printed on the switch.

the only options i see are either to call long horn fab with the VIN and see if they can tell you what tunes are tied to that VIN, but as silver said, probably best to just get known good tunes from someone reliable.

Given there is a lope tune loaded..... the rest of them are probably garbage too..... just saying. "yes hello tuner man, id like my truck to sound like its broken 24x7 please?"

I dont get the lope tune either, i wanted a stock truck but this one came up and its from oaklahoma so almost no rust. Everything around here is rotted out and twice the price. So i took a gamble on it.

There are several Diesel shops around here that will work with reputable people, they dont' write anything, just resell. Not ever having heard of that shop, I was thinking that might be the case. And if it was, finding out what he has might save him some cash.

Short horn fagshop has shit tunes. They pioneered lope and smoke tunes. Used to send out 230hp "transmission safe" tunes that were like 3000us 40*timing and would cover up issues by turning off cels in their tunes. The traction bars are the only thing they ever sold that were worth a shit. Lots of the old heads that remember this still have a sore spot for them;)

Thanks for the education. Now I understand some of the comments and others insistence that the OP find a "reputable" tune.

The knowledge Ive gained about all things Duramax since joining this forum just constantly Astounds me!

Those of you with an encyclopedic knowledge of these trucks (You know who you are) and so readily share that knowledge with us other dolts are the Institutional Knowledge that is so essential for this forum to continue in its current form and tenor.

MANY THANKS and my hat is off to you, each and every one! :wink2:

LLYs are good motors. Hopefully the crap tunes haven't hurt anything. Keep us posted with what you got once you get the ECU sorted, non-rusty classic trucks are getting hard to find! My LLY is my forever truck, keeps on pulling my 5th wheel without complaining.

I have their traction bars Nic. Just glad I didn鈥檛 put the big sticker on the truck.... I just remember paying extra to have them powder coated red to only hear back 3 weeks later they couldn鈥檛 source powder coat so black they are!

Only thing they sell that's worth it. The powdercoating sounds about right with how they roll lol.
