Need New Tuner

Alright, Sold my Bully Dog Triple Dog and really like how the truck shifts and runs now without the tuner. But i liked the mileage increase and most importantly the power increase of having the tuner. I like how there is no more timing rattle and no more de-fueling. My truck will do a huge burn out compared to the Bully Dog tuned truck.

What programmer (Besides EFI-Live) will provides the same benefits as having a stock truck but with the added power of having a tuner? I don't want de-fueling and i dont want timing rattle. What will accomplish this? Would the PPE Standard be sufficient? How high of a level can i run before a lift pump and a trans is necessary?

Thanks

The PPE is okay its plug and play and wakes up the truck alot if you are in the market I have a Banks 6 gun with speed loader and PDA if intrested PM me Banks is cleaner tuneing I have the PPE standard as well PPE lets you push in harder?
The PPE is great, one of the best canned tuners out there. A standard would be great for you, level 4 is a little high for the trans but other than that a great tuner. The trucks ive put them on run pretty clean.

If you just want mileage PPE also has a mileage Xcellerator.
The defueling happens even without tuning...you just dont feel it as pronounced. The defueling is what is saving the tranny from too much abuse. Bullydog tuning sucks IMO..had one and hated it for the same reasons u did. I have a predator now and it is much better over the bullydog. If you are going for 500+ hp like you were talking in your other thread, EFI is your only real choice. A tuner can make some really good stock tranny safe tunes.
I suggest a Edge CS, CTS or The Race CS or CTS. If you don't have gauges this make it the best choice in my opinion. The new Edge tuners have amazing tuning, and I feel they are quickly becoming the best tuner on the market.

Stay 90 or below to keep the transmission happy. And around 120 hp over stock I would suggest a lift pump.

Being i have a transGo Jr kit how much more can i push the trans? I was also thinking about the Quad Stealth 2 but don't want something that's basically the same as the Bully Dog was but with a different name.
Getting a tuner is quite confusing to me as i am used to older gas engines where everything is bolt on parts and there is no such thing as a chip or a computer.

I already have Guages so i don't need another screen layout with the same guages.

A Diesel performance shop around here told me that they know of a truck like mine that runs a PPE Hot+2, Turbo,Injectors,CP3,Turbo, and of course Trans and Lift Pump and he was running 11's. Is this true or was this guy just trying to make a quick sale?
i would agree with what tyler said edge is doing really good for them selfs

I would stay away from PPE HOT+2 with out a full trans. Trans jr wont cut it the standard PPE would be okay stay away from level 4 and you should be okay maybe an airdog 150II and you will have a diffrent truck:D
Chiming in on defuel shifting schedules. Over-defueled shifts are usually a result of tuning that has had no attention in this area to change from stock defueling levels. It is very poor refinement IMO and the 06 and later vehicles are difficult to change this on. IMO, there is reason to be concerned that over-defueled shifts can also increase trans wear.
i have a quad for your truck if you need one

Its quite possible that truck was in the 11s. however you do not need to get the ppe hot right away, a standard can always be updated later on.
The edge evolution race works very well and does not feel like it defuels, I am sure it does on the higher levels. I bought it to delete the DPF and have not gone past level 4. I agree with Killerbee that defueling can be tuned out if your transmission can handle the power.
i have a quad and a evo race, i can't choose which i like better
Is the PPE good enough? Can a Standard model be upgraded to a Hot+2 without buying something new? I have the opertunity (sp?) to buy a PPE standard but was told it only works on the NBS trucks and has a DPF delete for $450 CAD. Can it be upgraded to work on my LBZ also?
Was told its a special NADP model, if that makes a differnece.
Buy a quad and update it free w the dpf delete(off-road) tunes. Ive had 4 tuners and like the quad the best.
I had the Bullydog and just got the PPE standard. Put it on 2 days ago and it is a night and day difference. The shifts are 1,000x's smoother and the power feels really good. It shifts like a stock truck, get the PPE
i love my edge, was having problems with the display freezing and the tech was telling me the new juice w att is going to get the new touch screen like the cts soon dont know if u wanna wait that long
I have a buddy that has the Edge J/A, and even with both tuners on highest setting my was ALOT faster and more responsive, His truck was an 06 LLY though. So right now its between the Quad S2 and the PPE Standard. I like the fact that the Quad is measured at RWHP instead of how the PPE is Crank HP. But i like how the PPE i can turn the De-Fuel off if i want to. But i do like on the quad it has real time display for flow rates on the injectors. So, right now its a toss up between the two and im not quite sure which one to get.

Can this PPE be updated to work on my LBZ as its only an LMM model at the moment?
Yes PPE can be used on any duramax with updateing
All of the newer PPEs work on all trucks. If it works on an LMM its a newer PPE and will work on your LBZ. They can be updated to a Hot +2 for some extra cash when the time comes.
