Hey all,
My name is Josh, but I'm usually called JP. I'm from Temple, TX. I'm 25 years old and I currently work overseas in Iraq & Afghanistan as the project manager for a military tool program. I am responsible six employees in two different countries and I'm expanding the operations as I write this. I have been working on some plans to increase the usability and sustainability of the current program and will be briefing the government this Spring to tell them what improvements I feel they should make to raise the bar on the current maintenance situation for the war fighters. Not trying to brag too much, but I am proud of some of my life accomplishments.
In the past I have been to CAT Diesel school and worked for Caterpillar as a heavy equipment tech, I was a lead auto technician for a small outfit when I was 20 and my emphasis was in diesels, engines, and electronics/computers. My first tour in Iraq was in 2005 and after that I started a business in remodeling houses and wasn't too successful on account of drinking too much beer and chasing the ladies:drink:booboo
. Then I went back to school again to learn to be a pipeline welder to make some dough and the oil industry dumped
. Thus I am back overseas working and will return this winter. When I get back I would like to pursue a Bachelor's or maybe a Master's (if the beer and women don't get the best of me again) in Construction Mgmt so that I can get some valuable experience in a field that I would like to start my own business in.
NOW FOR THE FUN STUFF:
Trucks!!:rockin I will be home for R&R this April and I have a truck lined out to go pick up when I come in. 06 Chevy 2500 DMAX, CC, Auto, SB, 4x4. This will be my first Duramax and I'm very excited about it. I will be leaning on you experienced DMAX guys for some sound advice and to learn as much about fixing all the little things the MFG overlooks when building trucks. The mods I'm going to do when I get it are: fronteir bumpers front and rear, 285 tires, 4" exhaust, intake mod, and maybe EFI Live. I don't need huge power, but fuel eco and some good clean fun is what I live for.
I've been promising myself that since I'm going back to school next year I need to save money and not go crazy with mods on this truck, but I doubt that's going to happen. I love performance, fuel economy, and most of all I want to enjoy my hobby and be eco-friendly. I am not new to diesels as I have owned a few and my latest was an 06 Dodge 2500 Cummins, 4x4, CC....nice truck for just pulling stuff but I was unhappy with the ride and interior quality. It was like driving a brand-new 1960's 3/4ton truck.
I look forward to seeing some of you guys around at the events when I get back.
Josh
