I'm new to the site, and actually am working on finding the right dmax. I'm new to the dmax diesel, i've always had chevy gassers and most recently a 6.0 PSD and the farm has always had powerstrokes (2 7.3's, 6.0, 6.4) but i like the dmax combined with the allison. So what i'm looking for is some advice as to what i should go with. I'm thinking a 2006 or newer with the 6 speed allison and the lbz. I do plan to do some light tuning (prolly no more than tuner-ppe, intake and exhaust, still will be a daily driver). Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated.!. Thanks!

Welcome to the site!! I traded a ford 7.3 for my d-max. Glad i did. The 06 lbz eng is great, lots of power and good mileage. Good luck.

Thanks all... Some questions I have I guess: How much will the stock Allison safely hold (because I know it won't be long before i have to tune it lol...)? Is the EGR something that i should be concerned with? Is the stock intake as good as an aftermarket?

The 6 speed with a trans go jr. installed will hold around 120hp over stock without the trans go jr. 90hp over stock.
