i was pulling a cord of wood on our trailer and right as i was getting out of town the truck just seemed to instantly lose power, it started rattle like an old 7.3 powerstroke and just acted flat out wierd

the highway patrolman stopped and said it might be bad diesel.

so i turned the truck off and let it sit for a minute and then turned it on again and it ran fine for about half a mile.

after that it kept slowing down no matter how much gas i gave it. it got to the point where it wouldnt go over 5 if i floored it.

tow truck came and now it is sitting a the shop. does this sound like possible bad fuel plus bad fuel filter? that is really the only thing i can think. oil is good and all other fluids are good. engine did not throw any codes

thanks guys i appreciate it

define the rattling....you might be having the injector harness issue on the #2 cylinder injector....when that goes goofy, it shuts the whole bank off

either that or the engine was over heating. LLYs are notorious for overheating issues.

naw the engine was at 180 so i know it wasnt that

well it didnt have any rhythm to it. it sounded like gurgling mouth wash. just really rough. it really sounded fuel deprived... if it is a injector harness is that expensive?

I agree with the #2,#7 harness issue. Sounds like injectors. May be covered under the 5/100 warranty??
Good luck

it sounds like your#2 and #7 cylinder harness, very common on the lly motors. just had mine replaced. mine was covered with the 5 year 1000,000 mile warranty. you can buy the service kit and do it yourself. real simple. the gm part number is 98017958. its called the injector connectors #2 and #7 service repair kit.retails for $254.16 good luck

well fortunately my uncle is a dealer and can get me a good deal on one if that is the case... it sure happened at at bad time. what causes these to go out? is it a short in the wiring of some sort?

must of gotten cheaper since i priced them out...

the reason is a real nasty angle of the wires coupled to the vibrations of the engine. sometimes the wires break in the sleeves in that case nothing you can do besides the harness.

most of the time the contacts just get lose and stop making good contact...this can be addressed with the ice pick trick

i have to respectfully disagree with you. the ice pick fix can still leave you stranded, just do the harness replacement and be done with it. it is a piece of mind to know you will not have this problem when you are somewhere , where there is no help....

yea nothing showed up on the gauge cluster.
these codes will not show up on your cluster. it will need to be scanned. just go to checkers or auto zone and they will scan it for no charge and give you a printed read out of there findings....
