Just read a story on the BLAZE.COM about on star still tracking and loging info even when sub runs out. They changed their privacy policy so they can sell your info. ???? is If I pull the fuse that powers it is the signal dissabled?

Data Mining and selling to 3rd parties is an ever popular growing cancer nowadays.GrrRRrr

One of the bigger ones doing it is Progressive Insurance.

SamsClub has been doing it for years, and now they've really ramped it up with a new program to "Upgrade" (you pay more) your membership for a discount program that 'tracks' your purchases and offers you miniscule discounts for future purchases. Easy to do for them, they’ll make more money off of selling your info than the discounts given.

Randall’s (food store) has been in it for decades with their “Remarkable Card”, which you have to have in order to take advantage of their weekly Sales ad for groceries. They track your buying habits and sell the info.

Credit Card companies…..don’t get me started. notworthy

Another reason why I prefer to pay Cash on everything. :thumb

And the worst part is that companies are forcing people to use credit cards now. I mean it's getting to the point where you can't purchase much unless you have the money upfront. Forget about getting loans with no credit score.

I cuss every company that calls me. Telephone, credit cards, etc.... As soon as I hear they're name I start with a slurr of words that would make my momma slap me. But hey my house my rules!! Haha they usually just hang up. Try it. The key is not to even let them get past "hello this is discover........

Caller ID helps-- now they started listing the telephone number as private! They also use the computer to call your number-- if you answer, there is no one there-- then a real person will call at a later time. None pay any attention to the "Do not call list".

Cancel your home phones, it's 2011 folks. It's cellphones, laptops and tablets now. My parents haven't had a home phone in 11 years. It's hard for marketers to call a phone that doesn't exist.

They changed the OnStar, from Analog to digital in 2008[?], and some early ones could be reprogrammed for the digital. Mine is listed as one, but have never had it flashed.

The "Info" fuse under the hood is the power feed for the OnStar- if you are concerned about them checking your vehicle-- Pull the fuse.

And ya'll don't think that your cell phone/laptop/tablet/gps system is a "tracking device"?????????? Come on, "they" know where you are, when you're there and where you're headed before you do.

The Onstar system is an integrated module on your vehicle. If you "Pull the fuse", you lose other vehicle functions as well.

Not on mine-- maybe on the newer trucks. My fuse has been out of a couple years-- not that I am paranoid-- just don't subscribe to it!

we live in an age where if you want privacy you better downgrade your lifestyle to that of people in the 30's & 40's

don't watch cable (antenna only)
no internet
no phone (most people did not have phones in their house back then)
you should look at it like this, anything with a computer & GPS has the ability to track you

so downgrade your lifestyle, go off the grid, and grow/raise your own food. Then you can fall off the proverbial radar...until then, little things like this are futile but if it makes you sleep better at night then meh go nuts
