OK has anyone had any Piston trouble on there trucks LB7, LLY, or LBZ? I was talking to dad about different tunes and chips for the truck and talking about different power levels and then I said something about the PPE Boost Controller. Then He said something about melting pistons if the temp gets too hot especially if i'm adding more fuel and power to a stock motor. So has anyone had any problems with this or is everything ok to add more power:rockin

That's what i Thought but I think he was reffering to the older tractor's of the 70's. He doesn't want me to mess up my truck. I think he's just jealous and doesn't want mine faster than his!! J/K.

i'm sure your father is a wise man it would do you good to heed his word and he might not know that much about these new diesels but he been around longer so he might have some tricks up his sleeves,i know if i hadn't listened to my dad on some of these things, well i might not be here today...not trying to tell you what to do just giving you some advice.....the Duramaqx TD is a stong engine and it will take a serious beatin before it gives up but it does have a limmit...

Adding hp improperly can hurt an engine such as to much timing, to much fuel, not engough timing and so on . all these tuners on the market are good products and are made right so you dont damage your engine. If you run excessive egts for to long of a time it will melt someting eventually.

When towing i keep my egts under 1200* but on the drag strip i have peged the 1800* gauge more times than i are to mention with no issues to date.

With these trucks if you keep it less then 500 hp you are pretty safe, but just remember when adding hp there is always a chance of anything breaking even on a stock truck!!!
