My girlfriend just got an 02 gmc duramax. And it came with a power pup bully dog programmer. It doesnt look like. Bully dog makes them anymore and i cant find much on them. I was wondering if anyone knew what each level is best for. Such as the most economic and if it has a boost fooler and things like that. Any help is good. Thank you.

It doesnt have a tow mode. It just has levels 1-4 and all it says in them manual is it adds horspower. Thats why its kind of confusing.

well im just looking to get her the best fuel mileage with the stuff shes got to work with. we dont have to smog once the vehicle is registered within the county, so i was wondering how big of a jump should i see if i take the CAT off. it has a 4 inch TB exhaust already and a K&N CAI. and if any one knows of any other things i could do to it to see better mileage like ive seen wastegate upgrades or i know the dodges have boost elbows to restrict the wastegate a little. or maybe a j-hook. i dont know if chevys have those either, anything would help, thank you.

Sorry to say but your never really gonna get that great of mileage. My truck has stock size tires and all the "mileage" tweaks and with my efi live i still only see 14.2 mpg. With a ligher foot maybe 15 at the most. Cant expect too much out of an 8000 pound vehicle.

When I ran the power pup my best mileage was on #3 performance setting. Best money I ever spent was selling the power pup and buying EFI live

Damn. That sucks. Reading around. I feel like duramaxes get mileage all over the board. Some say they get good others say they get bad. With my cummins i get about 20 with mostly town driving. I even got to 26 once drafting behind a big rig going 60mph. She hasnt had it long enough to really get a good mileage rating. But it seems to be decent from what iv seen so far. What about the horn thing. I read you can grind it out or buy a bigger one to open ot up. Does that change anything? And does the 02's have the egr? And if so does deleting it change any mileage thing?

Im not a real familiar with the LB7 but perhaps a new intake horn would help? A quick search claims the HP settings on that thing are 50, 75, 95, or...

EXTREME! :gearjamin (150hp)

(Im sorry. Its late and I need to lay down.) I thought LB7's generally got the best mileage due to non emissions?

LB7's didnt have an EGR system. I had a Bullydog Triple Dog on and got about 15mpg for my LLY. Running stock I dropped to about low 13's but after my exhaust, intake, egr delete, intercooler tube I went up to 15.5. And thats all city. Everyone is gonna recommend EFI for you just as a warning lol

Ahhh you are the exception. If you dont mind filling out your sig or location that helps others help you out ya know? This seemed like a good piece of info for doing your deletes THREAD

Apparently there may be a YF9 in your vin number which would indicate your truck has the CA emissions package

Boring the intake horn help with airflow and unless the truck is a Cali. emission truck then i dont believe it has the egr. Someone else will chime in im sure. I see an average of 16-17mpg's when im babying it. I also have a heavy foot so it doesnt stay that way

edit: didnt see there was a 2nd page. Phone sucks!!! sorry if i repeated or misinformed..

What are the benefits of the egr delete and pcv valve. Just longevity of the engine since u arent recircultating exhaust?

You can port your own intake...plus get efi live tuning and you can see 18-20mpg city on stock tires depending on weight. I see 18.5 with winter fuel im hoping for 19+ on summer fuel. Im sure a pro tuner could get you better mpg then im getting though and i have bigger tires and sometimes a heavy right foot. Intercooler, meth, and efi + intake/exhaust you could see 28-30mpg hwy. I see 23mpg at 60mph =].

Ok. So if you have ethanol injection. How does it work. Does it run all the time? Or do u switch it on. And isnt it basically ethanol. So if you have that. You basically cant see what kind of mileage your getting because your burning something besides just the diesel?

I could be wrong here but... the pcv reroute helps to direct small amounts of oil from getting into your turbo mouthpiece and being sucked into your turbo. Your on the right track with the egr. It prevents the recycling of dirty air (exhaust) back through your system
