I don't know where ive been my whole life but  I just came across these balancing beads that you put it the tires to keep them balanced. I guess there has to be some negative by product or reason that they are not to popular. after I rotated my tires the other day, I have a horrible shake. instead of getting my tires balanced again, I would rather switch to the beads.
can anyone give their personal experience with the beads and tell me the pros and cons? thank you

i hadn't heard about the balancing beads until this summer when i started looking for wheels and tires. long story short, i ended up getting them put in my 33's mounted on 20's and i have absolutely love em. don't have to worry about the weights ever falling off or wrecking the finish on your wheels.

once in a while there might be a minute shake but as soon as you're rolling at a decent speed they balance out perfectly. i say give em a try!

Well the pro is the beads keep the tires balanced as the wheel spins. Cons are getting the beads out of the tire when replacing the tires.

They are not a magic cure all. I have them in one set of tires. They work fine but if you have a tire that wont balance with weights then it wont balance with beads either.

The only reason I have them in a set of tires is I got sick of snow and ice causing my weights to fly off.

I use them in the bigger more aggressive tires. I find larger more aggressive tires need to be balanced more often to keep a good balance. The beads eliminate this. Also it is nice to not need to worry about the weights getting knocked off when off-roading.

Highway tires with closed shoulders beads help current any wear issues with spinning the tires. I think there a huge plus with aluminum wheels as the clip on weights cause corrosion.

Are they in a bag or are they loose? If loose, do they mess up a TPMS system? I am still trying to wrap my head around the concept. I don't quite get how the balance the tire. Wouldn't they just fly out to 'wherever' due to centripetal force? What makes them land at the 'right' spot?

It seems that if they worked, all the shops would use them as spin balancing with weights is way more labor intensive than dumping some beads into the tire, especially with lifetime balancing guarantees.

like dslkraz said there isn't any noticeable noise that you'll hear over the sound of your truck and tires on the pavement. only time i've ever heard em is when rotating tires and i'm rolling them around trying to hear the beads.

i have tire pressure sensors in my wheels and haven't had any problems with them yet.

Have em in my 37" mud grapplers. Shop mounted my tires and put these beads in and no shakes at all, like said, don't gotta worry about weights falling off or a tire going outta balance.
I haven't had any problems at all and I've had my tires on with these since spring. No noise or anything.

A couple years ago I found a website with a chart of tire sizes and the recommended amount of beads. I will try to dig it up again. I used the chart and then emptied a couple rounds of steel bird shot to get the right amount of beads. There was a certain size steel shot that worked good I think. Some claim that you can't use the steel shot because it will end up rusting and the beads will stick together. I ran the steel shot for 2-1/2 years in my last set of tires with no problems though.

We had a set of tires we were having trouble with balancing switched to the balance beads and problem solved.

ok, ive talked to a lot of people over the past few days. either people don't know much about them and are curious like me or they have used them or currently do use them and love them. I really cant get any negative feedback on the beads....

now I wonder, which brand, and who should install them? trust anyone to install? how could a shop possibly do it wrong?
