Here is my original thread http://www.duramaxforum.com/forum/search.php?searchid=2537516 I have found an '05 still on the frame with less than 50k miles for $4k. I've been weighing all options from a swap, to a rebuilt, or just replacing gaskets. The '05 has everything including transmission, gauges, wiring harness', etc... I've searched and read all the threads on here regarding swapping the two, but am still a little hesitant. I'm afraid I don't know enough about them, so I would feel better if I could find a mechanic that would do the swap for me. Problem is I'm not sure if finding a mechanic for this kind of swap is possible. I would think the best route would be to install the LLY along with that tranny since it has such low miles. I could then sell my engine along with my tranny for someone looking to possibly do a rebuild. Any idea on what I could get for my '03 with blown head gaskets and a transmission?

I'm trying to weigh all my options considering both functionality as well as financial. Is that a good price and worth it to? Any input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Brandon

I thought the price was right, and it is from someone I know. The wiring is what scares me the most. I can take nuts and bolts out all day and figure out how to get the engine out, I'm just not too sure about all the wiring.

its plug and play, just pay close attn. take pics as you disassemble the LLY so you can look back if you get stumped.

Here are picks of what I'm going to buy. I'm still looking for advice from someone that has done this swap before. I'm curious if everything just plugs in or are there changes that need to be made. As you can see the engine has everything still attached, should I take any of it off or just use all the parts that come with it seeing that they have nearly 200k miles less than my parts.

Thanks,
Brandon

an LLY swap into a LB7 is pretty easy. Greygoose put an 06'LBZ motor and trans into an 03' GMC, alot more complicated. you might pm him he could help you.
