So I bought my duramax last thursday. Going on eight days now
I took a look in the engine compartment and had wondered where the turbo was. I thought it was were I circled in blue, but it looks like what ever was there was removed. So I thought maybe it's the red circle. Can anyone clarify this for me?

Not sure maybe dual alternators.

I'm not completely sure myself. My service manual didn't clarify that either. And yes I realized that I could have just looked up the turbo in it but didn't think of that.

Blue circle is where the 2nd alternator would be if it had that option.

I don't even think that's a resonator. It just looks like a cover to me...

2001's don't have a resonator just the plastic cover like in the picture.

Is there a differance between the 01 LB7 and an 03? Cause mine had a resonator.

Yup, mine has no resonator, just the plastic cover.

No physical difference, just a design change from the General. Probably, to try and quiet the engine down. Most guys plug them or delete with aftermarket intake.

second alternator usually goes there for the plow build. or you can put a second CP3 pump.

I don't even think that's a resonator. It just looks like a cover to me...

^^ correct, no resonator on the engine at all. thats just a cover, 1 8mm bolt holds it down and it covers the Y bridge, some of the thermostat plumbing and the wire harnesses over the engine to make it more "presentable" to a customer. its totally optional and can be removed, though i like the fact that it keeps shit from falling down in the block V
