On what code dmax?

LB7/LLY have them on passenger side, lower right hand corner.

LBZ/LMM do not have drain plugs. You have to pull the lower radiator hose.

 

That brings up a second ? I have wondering about. Where do I find out which model engine I have. Is it stamped somewhere? In any case I believe I have the one that needs to have the supply line pulled b/c I didn't see any drain on either side. Thanks

its actually easier than that....if the badge on the side of your truck has the allison logo on it you have the lbz or lmm

All years have a allison badge under the silverado decal..


He has a 06 LLY.

Looks like it was manufactured 01/06 and does have the Allison logo on the side. I guess I have the LBZ. Is this engine supposed to have more/less problems than the LLY? BTW I think I may be scrapping the idea of flushing my own radiator. This seems like a PITA have to remove the bottom hose. Has anyone done this before? If I'm looking at the right hose I need to remove to drain it. It looks to be a messy job.

 

if the 8th digit of your VIN is a D then it's an LBZ, if it's a 2 its an LLY

 

It could be the LLY with the 6 spd ally....

 

I'm at about 97k. I just figured it was good preventive maint. I have read though about the dexcool lasting a long time. I want to run this damn truck for as long as I can. Just trying to do the little stuff. So when should I flush and fill?

 

really? cause i got an 04 lly and i dont have an allison badge on the truck, guess i got ripped off? only trucks with 6spd allys got that badge.......
