Rear Main Leak

I have seen a few of these threads, they quite frequently are later identified as a different problem.

I do have a rear main leak, and it started at about 7k. Is this a issue with the LMM? I am about to start my mods and don't want to get rid of the warranty if I am going to need it in the near future.

I plan on taking it in next week. They supposedly have the parts in stock and it is just the seal so, 4.5 hrs of labor (in other words a week without my truck) later I should be back in business.

I'd love to hear all the opinions out there...

Thanks

yeah it's deffinatly an issue for me and many others...i think mine comes from the fact my tc slips a has vibration cause it getting 500hp and its stock...once the tranny is done im adding a dampner, TC ofcourse, and a good rear main...hopefully that'll take care of
you should have your truck back the next day. no reason for them to keep it for a week. are they or you positive that its a rear seal and not the turbo oil return line

It was in for the oil change and they are positive it was the rear main. They also said it would be a day for the work, but i never trust them, something always happens when they take it aprat, oops the part isn't in stock and it takes 3 more days for the part to come in, and the finish the repair.

"Seth" Good luck with yours, I missed seeing the article in the diesel mag recently.
thanks man....and glad to see you on DF
After the repair

So it took them a little more than a day to get the job done. My guess is they didn't start on it early enough. I dropped it of Friday 730 am, got it back Saturday 1100 am.

One of the time excuses I heard was that the bolts were so tight it took two guys and a 4 foot cheater bar to break them loose (the impact didn't break them free?). If it was really this tight, it makes me believe that the seal had been crushed...who knows. I have my truck back and no drips yet.
