Is it possible or even necessary to relocate tcm? Have been reading a lot about heat being bad for tcm, some say mounted to shroud exposes it to heat and static electricity from fan belt. Can it be moved and where to put it?

I have pondered that also but pretty much everywhere in the engine compartment is pretty hot. My assumption is that GM located the current location with that in mind. Gates belts are my favorite and do not produce the static electricity of some others.
Im also wondering about relocation, i just had to fork out some crazy money for one of the last new TCM's i could find online and heard some people are relocating to on top of the Fuse panel lid. and also adding a grounding strap to the TCM.
interesting? Whats your thoughts on relocation to prevent heat soak? My truck isnt at my house right now but when i get it back i will have to open the loom a little on the TCM and see if its even possible to get it over to the fuse block lid. I also dont want to be pulling on the harness at all actually. I have a fear of pin fitment as well as festering the harness opening another can of worms.
Supposedly these fail quite frequently due to heat and vibration. Also a few instances where it actually fell and gets damaged. ATS Diesel Performance has a relocation kit available that moves the TCM behind the fuse panel in the back corner on the drivers side with an extension wiring harness and a bracket. ATS also has a upgraded TCM for Duramax's, currently only 2011 and up right now.
