Id call local salvage yards and get a used one. The tail gate is the same from 01-07.5. After market ones are cheap and will only last a year then start to rust up

Thanks for the welcome. I lurk and learn, but don't write much.

I called a auto salvage and they wanted $400 and I still would have to paint it. So the $130 skins aren't any good? Rust isn't much of an issue here in the high desert, but I don't want to cheap out either. Guess I'll keep looking for a used one.

I hear you with the no rust! We put a aftermarket one on a customers truck and it rusted so bad in a year it nearly fell off! It was a older guy and he rarely used the bed! If you do get one Id spray or throw some sort of paint inside the gate to prevent rust. Especially on the joints and pinch welds
