My dealer said there isn't an option to add the same lights as factory and that they would have to install recon lights instead? Anyone know if this is really the case?
I will let you know first hand over the holiday weekend if this statement is true, but I don't think it is. I confirmed my harness plugs into the passenger fuse box, the lights (at least the one I tested) plugs into the harness and the light works.

Here is what it shows for a 2014. I cannot believe it changed from 2014 to 2015. Maybe it did but I don't know. This diagram looks exactly like what it showed for my 2011 GMC and the same exact harness part number 22823360.

Yep, they sure did change them ... both the lights and the harness. The 2015's require square holes without a hole for the wire.

I talked to a different person at the dealership and he said they were using GM parts to do the lights. He didn't know why the other guy told me they were going to use the cheap recon crap.

Someone in this same thread posted the 2015 harness part number, 23170769.
I would contact them and see if the lights they got are GM and what are the part numbers. I checked 23170769 on one part website and it did come up.

Another choice, find another dealer.
That was my posting and the part number I ordered. The part numbers for the OEM lights are in that same post ... I made an offer to an Ebay seller for the set of 2015 OEM marker lights ... damn good deal I thought.

I would hate to know what they are charging for the parts and labor ... !

They are installing them for free. Had a deal going on a different truck with the lights but it got sold my another salesman so I worked with them a little since they were having a hard time getting other dealers to give up trucks spec'd like I wanted.

That works perfect, but you do realize, if they have enough in the deal to recoup the $700+ the dealer will have to add to the deal to complete the install, they had plenty left in their side of the deal. As long as you are happy with the deal you got, that is all that matters, but definitely, do NOT accept anything other than the 2015 OEM cab lights. The early style lights would definitely be easier to install since they are mounted with sheet metal screws.

I got the same deal I could have got at Laura in St. Louis and this is 500 miles closer to home. I couldn't even get other dealers to call me back when I told them where I wanted to be on the new truck.

They make a lot of money charging $600 or $700 just to install lights so throwing that in doesn't necessarily mean they could take that off the truck deal.

It was a mistake by them because they made a deal for a truck they though they had and didn't and then they thought it would be easy to get a dealer trade, but no dealer would do it. There was about 4 or 5 trucks they tried getting me with no luck.

That's it ... too many dealers will wait for the "right" (right for them) buyer to come along so they can sell their vehicles for a few thousand off MSRP and make $5,000 - $10,000 per unit. It takes a lot of shopping to buy vehicles correctly. I had to go to Florida for mine in March ... every dealer in Metro Atlanta wanted MSRP if they even had a loaded 2015 Duramax in stock. Laura wouldn't even do MY deal!

Instead of having to deal with square holes and wiring harnesses, why would you not just use the 2011-2014 cab lights(which look exactly the same) and run you own wire to a hot running light source? Gotta be easier with the exact same results and cheaper.

... "exactly the same"? Look again .... !

... $225 (lights) vs. $75 (lights) + $90 (harness)?

... 10 holes vs. 4 square holes?

... "Old" style vs. OEM 2015 on a 2015?

... really?

.... just finished. I will put the interior back together tomorrow.

did the harness plug right in or have to be spliced? any pictures?
I used the factory 2015 OEM cab light harness. I had to take it apart because it had radio and OnStar antenna wires and a wire trough as part of the harness that my truck already had. Obviously factory installed cab lights share the same harness and trough. The factory connection was plug n' play for the lights and there was an empty slot in the existing pillar wire trough.

See the top plug (blue) in the passenger side fuse box ...

Voila ....

Completed ... !

I agree they look good.

Here are what Recon's look like for comparison.
The Recon's look good, but I wanted to stay OEM.
