So I've been messing around with EFI, building my own tunes. I've got a pretty sweet approximately +130hp tune that I'm running for DD. It's efficient down low and still hauls ass when I get on it.

Anyways, I recently just built a 3800rpm shift point tune for the truck, but it only spins that high when I'm WOT. Otherwise it keeps the factory shift points. I disabled the TCM torque limiting messages. My question is, how safe is approx 4000rpm on a daily driver truck if I'm not getting on it all the way very often. Pretty much only when I'm at the track and if some ricer kids want to be embarrassed.

EGT's might max out around 1550* during a 1/4 mile run. Mods in sig.

It won't hurt a thing at 4k. I wouldnt push it much higher, but you'll be just fine. I've seen many turn that high with ease. Problem is you wont be making any more power up there with a stock truck. You'll actually make lesa probably. Look at most stock or near stock dyno sheets and power falls off after about 3200 rpm.

Sent from my phone, probably while driving and eating a sammich

Yeah, I can definitely feel the power falling off up there. The biggest reason I'm running it that high is to see if it will help get a lower ET. Right now with stock trans tuning and the 35's I'm getting the 3-4 shift the last couple hundred feet of the 1/4 mile. I'm hoping by running it out a little more I can prevent that shift and maybe get a lower ET. I'll be taking it to the track this Friday to test it out and see if it helps.

Well I think I found an issue with that high RPM's on my truck. I've developed an oil leak from just behind the water pump. I just replaced the pump about 6 months ago, and have never had a leak before. The only thing I've done recently to cause a leak is the 3800rpm's and a PCV reroute, highly doubt the PCV reroute would cause a leak though. I'm thinking (hoping) it might only leak when the RPM's get high because it's really not bad, so I've cleaned it off, going to be uploading the non 4k version of the tune and hopefully it doesn't leak anymore. If not, looks like I get to do the water pump hassle again just for an o-ring. :help
