Alternator might be on its last legs. Could have a dirty battery connection or a loose wire.

 

I'll check some things out. Will the battery warning light go off if I solve the problem or do I need to go to the dealership to get it erased?

It will go off on its own

 

Check alyernator first. If isnt holding steady around 14 or alittle under then replace and youll be fine. Then check batterys, with engine off should be around 12.6, if not should replace those to.

You can NOT check and alt like that on new vehicles. The computer controls the alt output. It can be anywhere from 16V to 12 volts. There are very specific tests that have to be done on todays charging systems.

 

Well I have a CTS. Would that tell me the voltage out of the alternator, or the batteries?
