I just bought a 2009 gmc 2500 dmax. It only came with one remote and one key. I would like to have another set. Key and remote. What is the easiest and cost effective way to achieve this. Does the key have a chip inside for the lmm?

Sometimes it's nice having an older truck. I got 4 spares made at home depot for <5$

Just get a key cut as for the fob get the number off the back order one off eBay or your favorite shopping place. Google how to reprogram it to your truck and you are in.

so the lmm doesn't have a chipped key.

No sure if its chipped but the only place to get blanks where I live is the dealer.

the key is chipped, its about $35 from wal mart. I just went through the same ordeal. A new key fob is about $120 msrp at the dealer, i got one off of ebay for $22 instead.

Buy a couple transponder keys from ebay for $12/pr.

does my 09 gmc sierra have remote start. the remote my keys came with only has lock, unlock and horn. do i need to get a remote with the remote start and program it?
